Can you share with the Philippine and International-based BETANS what a brod
Betan batch UPLB '52 is accomplishing in Lanao Del Sur, Mindanao - the no man's
land few have dared to visit... only a BETAN. I'm there since June 17 and
completing my volunteer work through a Christian School on October 17, where
students are 66% Muslim and 34% Christians.

Betan Brods,
I completed the First Phase of my commitments in Lanao and will continue to do
2nd and 3rd phase until the SSI - 3TS program is well embedded in the heart and
soul of the school and farming community.
Attachments below "4 Mo SSI-3TS PhotoReport" summarizes the June 17 to October
17 First Phase implemented activities and attachment "SSI-3TS" Comments are
reaction by friends of my daughter about her 84 years old BETAN daddy who
doesn't know the word "retire."
I was asked for assistance to conceptualize the Masagana 99 rice program in the
'70s where I helped developed the TECHNICAL component that lead to the only time
the country exported rice. Brod. Quisumbing was also involved in
formulating/implementing M99 covering other structural support for the program.
Gawad Kalinga (Konomics program) will organize a meeting with me at a later
date.
Brods, the challenge is enormous and I can only do so much.
