Updates from Sis Norma Fajardo:
5/02: Still here at Healthserv. He has 4th stage renal cancer that has
metastasized to the lungs and many parts of the abdominal area. No more surgery
recommended. He is being looked after by a cancer surgeon, nephrologist,
pulmonologist (a brod), urologist, anaesthesiologist (for the management of his
pains) and a medical oncologist who will lay out the plan for his treatment and
care after hosp discharge. So it will be mostly palliative care.
5/16: It is with profound sadness that I am informing our Betan family that Brod
Freddy Fajardo joined his Creator 9:45 in the evening of May 16. His remains
will be cremated today. Details of the wake will be announced later today.
We are deeply grateful for all your help, love and prayers. May God bless us
all.

Remembered him way back sa RHS slim and very easy to talk, opposite of his
father Mr Fajards our instructor, strict yet with compassion. Good combination!

A very sad day as we lost one of the stalwarts of UP Beta Sigma Fraternity, Los
Baños Chapter. The outpouring of grief from brods from different generations is
a testament of how we all loved Brod Freddy. A lot of brods came and went, but
Freddy was our “permanent fixture” in UPLB without overstaying. As he moved on
to the Big Campus in heaven to join our departed brods, let’s celebrate his life
and send him off with a big Betan farewell until we meet again. Rest in Peace

Can’t imagine going to UPLB and not seeing Brod Freddy F.
I first met Brod Freddy in November 1963, when we were presented as neophytes of
the Frat.
When ordered to hide after our Finals in Feb. 1964, he would join me and another
Brod in “licking” our wounds in my hometown, Malolos.
In 1966, we would serve as officers o f the Frat, he, as Master of the Rolls,
and me, as Guardian of the Coffers, with the late Brod Thad Hamoy as GP. It
could have been this time that he started collecting his priceless Frat
memorabilia, documenting nearly 60 years of the Frat.
We would share one escapade after another. One memorable time would find us
among the fleeing crowd during the stampede that marked the Beatles performance
in Rizal Memorial Field.
We would be swept up by the rising tide of student activism in the late ‘60s.
During this period, we would change school campuses but would reconnect every
now and then.
Raising our respective families only served to make us grow closer. Our children
grew up knowing each other up close.
Even in retirement, we would find ourselves sharing time and insights.
Just last February, he “corralled” the services of Brod Chito Protacio for my
son’s fruit trees in Alaminos, Laguna.
Brod Freddy F. —- always in the service of whomever among the Brods would need
his presence!
The Frat’s linchpin, the anchor, the chronicler, the ever smiling Brod Fredelino
Fajardo has passed on to legend.
May the Good lord welcome him in His Heavenly Abode where he can continue to be
of service to us all!

Larry Santiago, the crew cut, the eye glasses and a real smile, and the
intellectual look - has depicted the late Brod Freddy’s memorable interactions
with everyone around him as far as anyone can remember making it appear like he
was born with a caring heart. So much more can be said about our Freddy. His
strategic residential location in the heart of UPLB, allowed him to marshal frat
activities, a Betan match made in Heaven where he will soon journey into. So

Beautifully done! Thanks so much Marvin. That was a tribute all of Freddy’s friends share in their heartfelt memories of a soulful person that lived in that 2-story house in Copeland in the heart of UPLB sandwiched between College of Forestry up and College of Agriculture down. The house would become the iconic site of many gatherings (most notably Betan). The video captured what a lot of us Betans never saw and that is why the video was so heartwarming. It truly shows why our Freddy was so well loved. We will surely miss him but, Boy, are we glad we had him as for as long as we have and his memories will always be a celebration.
May your good soul Rest In Peace.
