U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity SoCal holds 14th Grand Fraternity Ball by GP Aman Carolino [Photos by Rolly Reyes and Willie Vergara}
The University of the Philippines Beta Sigma Fraternity of Southern California (UPBSF SoCal) held its induction and fundraising ball at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Valencia during a three-day event over the Labor Day weekend, September 1-3, 2012.
To kick off the festivities, a Hospitality Night was held at the Santa Clarita residence of former GP Sonny Pagador on September 1, Saturday, to welcome guests from all over the United States, Canada and the Philippines. The evening fittingly commenced with a celebration of a solemn mass before dinner and fellowship. Music was provided by the Band of Brothers, musicians composed of members of the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity of Northern California. Music and dancing lasted until midnight. Few weeks before the Hospitality Night, Brod Gerry Abenes ‘promised’ that it will be ‘ONE ROCKIN EVENING’ – sure enough, it was one of the very best Hospitality Nights ever! The affair was well attended, with the UP North Brods responsible for the most number of attendees.
The 5th Brod Dal Cruz Memorial Golf Tourney commenced at 9:00am, Sunday and was held at the Knollwood Country Club in Northridge. Trophies and cash prices were awarded to the lucky winners. This year’s overall champion is Brod Boy Jaurigue. Cheers to Brod Boy! The golf tourney was a complete success - thanks to the two very able and hardworking golf committee co-chairs: Brod Art Martin and Brod Roy Antonio. Great job, brothers!

In response, the newly-installed Grand Princep paraphrased founder Rico Arranz who once said: ”If we do good for the fraternity - it should not be with the expectation of any reward, or considerations of fame or personal glory.”
GP Aman ended his acceptance speech by saying, “My dear brothers, we do good for the fraternity - simply because it is the right thing to do!”
Everybody had fun, dancing to the great music of the Bits N’ Pieces Band.
A send-off brunch was held at the Pagador residence the following day.
The three-day event was an overwhelming success due to the total team-effort of all the UP SoCal brods and all the lovely Lady Aux.
Mabuhay ang U.P. Beta Sigma!
Cheers! Cheers! Cheers!
