Mindanao Residents Chapter

Betan Woodstock 2012

by Betan Angelo Paolo P. Lukban (UPDil ’08A)

Betan Woodstock was a one-night free concert-, free food-, and free drinks-event organized by the resident brothers of the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity–Mindanao Chapter. It was held last February 21st 2012. This activity was the first of its kind in U.P. Mindanao and it would never have been possible if not for the assistance of our very support alumni brothers here and abroad.

This event was held in support to the UPBSF’s advocacy of making the UP Beta Sigma as the fraternity of choice.

Key students were invited and attended the event to support and strengthen the recruitment efforts in the campus.

We tapped the U.P. Mindanao AMPLI, a music organization whose president is a resident brother, for the free tugtugan and rakrakan on that night. Every one enjoyed listening to the music played by several different U.P. bands while student and expectators were grilling and eating free barbeque, isaw, and hotdog.

The winner of the Betan Woodstock T-shirt Design-Making Contest was announced on that night. The winner was given P1,500 cash for garnering the highest score from the three judges- two of them were from the faculty of College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the other one was Grand Princep Jonathan Laid.

In addition to that, we gave away t-shirts with the printed winning design to the lucky winners of the raffle draw.

Brods Jayrome Rala (UPMin), Norman Dumalag (UPLB, and with son Enzo), and Ryan Calma (UPLB), Jed Peralta (UPMin), Miko Herrera (UPMin), and Quincy Salig (UPMin) were with us during the event. The lovely Sigma Betans were also present to assist us.

More than 200 students attended the event, not to include those who were not able to register their names.

The whole event was a big success. We have received a lot of positive feedbacks from the students who attended the event. Those who weren’t able to attend have also heard the good news and they were also commending us for the successful activity.
