Last July 29, 2010, The University of the Philippines-Mindanao held its “Freshmen Night 2010”. This is an annual event aimed at making the newest students feel at home in campus. It is also an event wherein the freshmen show their skills and talents before the upperclassmen. During the games they take the opportunity to have fun and compete against their fellow freshmen. The highlight of this year’s events was the “Isko and Iska”, a beauty pageant wherein the 9 different courses offered in UP Min chose one girl (Iska) and one boy (Isko) as their course representatives.

In line with this, the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity and U.P. Sigma Beta Sorority Association of UP Mindanao, won the voting in having to sponsor and handle the Freshmen Night Pictorial of the “Isko and Iska”. The photo shoot was held at 9 different locations representing the 9 different partners who were chosen to represent each course.

The photo shoot was a big success for the brods and sisters. This was enhanced by the fact that we were the only university organization that posted a BIG and most visible tarpulin of our seal during the event. Most importantly, the resident Brothers and Sisters worked hand-in-hand in this project to make the event successful. And the biggest payback of all -- we got to know the freshmen and the freshmen got to know about us!

Finally, as a way of expressing our pride and happiness for having 3 newly appointed Betan Cabinet Secretaries under the new government, we also posted a tarpaulin in the campus – a sight for everybody to behold -- freshmen, upperclassmen and faculty alike.

Mabuhay ang ating Kapatiran!
