OBBF Throws Christmas Celebration

The Operation Big Brother Foundation (OBBF) had their annual Christmas Party at the Pioneer Highlands Bowling and Billiards Center in Mandaluyong last December 10. It was a well-attended event with despite the gruesome Christmas traffic in EDSA and C-5 Road (with Brod Alex Bermas checking it at 11:30pm!). Well, when has anything actually stopped the Brods from coming to a party with food and booze for all?

It was a night of competitive drunk bowling and billiards c/o the residents; SOMA memories c/o Brods Paeng Hidalgo, Mel Ladip and Dennis Belmonte; heavy metal and new wave music stories and mixes c/o Brods Alan Montecastro, Andrei Umali, Leo Robel, Carlo Maceda and Mon Mamaril; office success stories c/o Brods Jay Policarpio, Jig Reyes, Charlie Mendoza, Jerry Bongco, and Jason Justo; and just plain drinking for the other Residents.

The event was also a good mix of old and new faces – with the attendance of some of OBBF’s new breed – Brods Pong Co and Alexis Dogwe, and the other members we haven’t seen for a while – Brods Jet Balajadia, Karl Galing, and Mel Ladip. The night was even made more special with the attendance of our Kabatch outgoing Prez Rolly Reyes, Brod Dan “Wowie” Bautista, and Brod Joel (“Daddy Joel” to the Residents) Paredes, who shared several fun anecdotes about the Frat. It was fun to see that the culture hasn’t changed and as Brod Wowie quipped, “wag nyo kaming intindihin dito Brod, ganyan din kami dati!”

 

And then there were the residents who, after feasting on our food and drinking our beer and playing bowling and billiards all night long, tried to mug us with their OPM Christmas medley with Brod JP Aguiluz on guitar and Brod Jerome Naval on violin. Well, they might have succeeded in getting some cash but not without the agony of being laughed at that will linger their whole life.

All in all, it was another fun night that added new memories to our lives as Beta Sigmans. From us in the OBBF to all the Brods in the world, Maligayang Pasko! Cheers!
