To add fun to the event, special awards were also included. The Longest Drive award went to Golly Umali whose 229-yard drive at the 522-yard par-5 Hole 16 came out the best from the field.  In contrasting stunning fashion on the same hole, Alan Montecastro (UPD 94B) absolutely pounded his tee shot for a 5-yard distance and thus securing himself the Nearest to the Tee award.  To achieve such a feat, he used a Callaway Hyper X10 driver.

In the Nearest to the Pin category, Rafael Hidalgo’s (UPD 86A) tee shot landed 126 inches from the hole on the 178-yard par-3 Hole 6.  He claims to have used a Callaway 5 Wood but fellow Betan golfers suspect an RCH hand wedge was the more likely culprit.

Lastly, in the tightly contested Most No. of Lost Balls award, flight mates Jason Justo (UPD 92C) and Leo Robel (95A) came up dead even at 12 lost balls each. It was a miracle that they finished the course despite so many balls lost. However, Jason Justo challenged the ruling and has filed a protest.

The fund raising event was made successful thanks to the efforts of the organizing team headed by the OBBF VP-Finance, Alan Montecastro (UPD 94B), thru the leadership of Peter Danao (UPD 92E) and to the dozen of sponsors and brods who lent their time and resources. The OBBF sincerely thanks all of you and hope to see you again in the next Residents’ Cup Golf Tournament.
