If other groups have The Firm where the mindset is on what one can get, UP Beta Sigma has The Family where the culture is one of giving. The Firm fizzles out, it fades The Family does not. It endures. It cares. Simply, with a loving spirit, The Family outlasts -- always.
True to its nature, the UP North Family held another festive Christmas Party last Dec 6, Saturday, at the Willow Event Venue in Vallejo CA. Lots of food, fun and warm fellowship. The hall was nicely decorated courtesy of the ladies who came early to have it done. And, siyempre, the Band of Brothers with Bobby Dulay and the whole group sang holiday music and carols. Incoming GP Ding gave his signature performance of Louie Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World".
There were 30 brods who came with their lifetime partners. Plus, in attendance were LA brods and sisters Ago & Eva Romero, Ed & Evelyn Cornelia and Manila-based Greg & Julie Palis. Also present were community leader and well known immigration lawyer Lou Ann Tancinco and Professor Antonio "Junjun" Villegas Jr. Angel P. came with a friend and Cleo (Ding & Julie’s daughter) brought her family. There were more. Sorry if I missed names. Maraming salamat sa pagdalo. Your presence added much joy to the occasion.
The evening would not be complete without "Mr. Gigolo" (kuno?), outgoing Hepe Dave Villegas having a good laugh and great time entertaining the ladies. 'Tanda na humihirit pa. He almost lost his credit cards and it was not a poker game. The photos on Lleva's link accurately captures what transpired. Magpakuwento na lang kayo.
Gifts were raffled out. The proceeds were for our Rainy Day Fund. The most coveted gift was a pair of Golden State Warriors tickets which Genny C. won. The Grand Prize, a tablet and a bag, donated by the Sacramento/Stockton brods was won by Bobby & Harlean P. They came from Salinas and drove 3 hours to get to the party.
Everyone had fun, uniquely UP North. It was a preview of what is coming on May 23-25, 2015 -- UP North’s fratball. Kita kits.
