UP Beta Sigma North Celebrates Christmas Party

The UP Beta Sigma Northern California Chapter brods and families held their annual Christmas Party at the Willows Event Center in Vallejo, CA on December 7, 2013. A night of Betan hugs, cheers, "renewing acquaintance" with missing persons, gifts and raffles galore.

Brod JR blessed the sumptuous buffet catered by Willows Event Center and the lechon courtesy of Brod Eric Punzalan. Ever present, the Band of Brothers provided music with the addition of a new duet, Brods Winston Acevedo and Emy Fajardo. Thank God the duet had a limited playlist. Brod Kiko Delmendo was jumping all over after winning the grand prize from the Sacramento brods.

A chilly and jolly evening

It was a chilly evening. The site was Vallejo – midway between Sacramento and the Bay Area. The cozy venue, Willows Events Center was decorated for a special event -- UP North’s Christmas Party. The officers headed by GP Dave & Mercy, Vice GP Gene & Geny, GOC Ding & Julie and the Band of Brothers were among the early birds. As the clock hit 6, around 20 brods with their lifetime partners & family and guests began to arrive. Among them Manila-based brod Greg Palis and wife Julie, Kiko Delmendo’s daughter Frances Paula and boyfriend Gabriel Dela Cruz, MayAnne Teodoro’s sister Susan Escudero and Winstons Acevedo’s son, Ray with lovely wife Chiho and “star of the night” granddaughter Luna.

The catered food which included a sumptuous lechon was neatly set up in an adjacent room. And siyempre the evening is incomplete without wine and Remy Martin cognac. JR opened the nights festivities with an invocation and by 7:00 pm, buffet dinner was served. In his usually jolly form, Bong emceed the program.. then the singing, the carols, dancing, picturan and raffle. Brod Kiko won the first prize of $ 550 Best Buy gift card donated by the Sacramento brods.

A special feature of the evening were several songs by crooner Bobby Dulay. Babes, Kiko & Bobby jam together and have performed in a recent outdoor concert in Vallejo. They will again perform on Dec 20 at Tokyo Restaurant in Richmond.

It was undeniably a jolly evening. And as brod Ding Cavestany aptly wrote,

“Although we missed brods and family members who could not be physically present, they were all included in the evening of warm Betan hugs, cheers and toasts and spirit of brotherhood, joy and gift giving.
