A Trip Turns Into Mini Reunions by: Nol Banzon, UPLB 68
What happens when NorCal brods go out of town – well, they hold mini reunions. Such was the case last week of Oct. 10 – 17.
On Sunday, Oct. 9th, with brod Ernie Tremor we embarked, by land, to Las Vegas for a 4-day vacation. The trip was a routine one -- to visit family and members. Arriving in Vegas, we checked in at Tahiti Village. Then we learned of a mini- reunion scheduled by Wiilie “Tatang” Vergara with LV brods – Eding Hizon, Jeje de la Santa, BenHur Aguila and Pogs Gaspay who was in town with wife May. Ernie and I did our usual things, having a good time with lots of booze, food, fun and happening. As the saying goes “Whatever happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas.”

However, our trip was cut short because we had to hook-up with brods in Los Angeles. We missed the LV reunion.
On Wednesday, unexpectedly, we proceeded to Pasadena to meet brod and Mayor Lito Tadena. Lito was in town to attend his daughter's wedding. He stayed at the Hilton Hotel. Later that day, a second reunion of friends/brods/kababayans of Lito and Ernem was held. Both “kabsats” were in high spirits that, even before dinner time, the group had already consumed several bottles of Ernie’s favorite drink – Black Hennessey. There were lots of pleasantries and kwentuhan.

By Friday, Oct. 14th, we headed home. Got a call from brod Gabby who was with Cy in the San Fernando Valley and met brod Sonny Pagador. A third reunion.
A fourth one happened last Saturday, the 15th, between brod and Commisioner Nitoy Tagle, Ben Tanega and Hermie San Luis. Nitoy, who was in San Francisco with us a week ago, flew in from Michigan and was on the last leg of his US trip. The three brods had not seen one another for sometime and they would not let this opportunity pass. Hermie arranged everything and they had a great time.

A fifth and surprise reunion happened between Nitoy, Lito and Hermie on Sunday. When Lito learned of Nitoy’s presence in LA, he made the effort to meet him. Kainan at kwentuhan.
And so it was, a fun filled weekend. Mini reunions galore.
