UP Mindanao Infirmary – “Betan Clinic”

February 16, 2012 was again a day of giving back to the people as local and “international” Betans along with UPMin Administration and Biological Society gathered at the Betan Clinic for the 12th Tito de Santo Medical and Dental Mission.

This mission has been the tradition of UP Betans with the help of UP Davao Alumni headed by Brod Anggie Angliongto and of Davao-based medical and dentist Brothers. The mission would not be successful without the support from Brods Frank Mamaril, Sonny Pagador and Roy Antonio of the Betan Spirit Foundation, and Mrs. Viching de Santos, wife of the late Brod Tito de Santos.

This year’s mission offered free medical consultation, tooth extraction, complete blood count, urinalysis, deworming and medicines. Lugaw was likewise served as patients waited for their turn during the consultations.

The clinics, which started at 9am to 2pm, were able to serve more than 180 out-patients including university students and staff, and community-members near the campus.

Doctor Brods who served during the mission were Jun Matilac (UST), Mike Jamiana (DMSF), Stephen Tay (UPLB) and Jeremiah Braganza (DMSF). We were likewise joined by dentist brods Jong Mirto (DMSF) and John Pereyras (DMSF). Brods Elcid Ablang (UPV), Danny Abad (UPLB), Roy Perez(UPDil), Mico Herrera (UPMin), Quincy Salig (UPMin), and UPBSFI Ninong for Mindanao Brod Bing Garcia (UPLB) were also there to support and witness the activity.

Aside from the active Brothers, the beautiful Sigma Betans were also present during the event. We were also supported by volunteer nurses from San Pedro College and UPMin students.

        Patients from nearby communities started to arrive at 8am as they have

 been wanting to avail of the free medical services.
