My Dear Brods:
Greetings of peace!
It is with joy to inform the whole brotherhood that the following alumni Brods
have just been recently recognized by the UPLB- CFNR Alumni Association during
the Alumni homecoming last April 14-15, 2016 held at the College' Auditorium of
the UPLB- CFNR, for their outstanding works in their respective fields of
expertise/!assignment, to wit:
1. BROD JOSE C. CABANAYAN, JR., Batch 1972, AS OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE (
Government Sector), in recognition for his outstanding achievements as Forester
of the then Bureau of Forest Development (BFD) and now as Deputy Administrator
of the National Mapping and Resources Information Authority (NAMRIA).
2. BROD OSCAR V. GULMATICO, Batch 1964, AS OUTSTANDING INSTITUTIONAL SERVICE
(Education Sector), in recognition for his distinguished service in the field of
education through his selfless and continuous efforts in bringing to various
academic institutions and other agencies the concepts, theories and practices of
sustainable forestry; for serving as national and international consultants in
several projects under the auspices of ADB, WB and USAID, among others, and as
Professional Lecturer in the graduate schools of De La Salle University, CLSU,
UE and UP Systems. He is presently a professor emeritus in the graduate programs
of the UP Systems and the Dean of the College of Business Administration of the
UE ( Caloocan Campus).
3. BROD NEPTALI Q. ZABALA, Honorary Member, Batch -1963). SPECIAL CITATION AWARD
for his pioneering work on tree improvement, forest species clonal technologies,
contour planting of forest trees in the mountainous areas, among others, whose
results are being applied in the country and considered essential components for
sustainable forest management.
I hope that these awards given to our eminent brothers, complemented by the
newly installed leaders of the UPLB Beta Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association,
will ultimately result to the increase of resident membership for our dear
fraternity in the UPLB- CFNR.
