1st Brod Rico Arranz Memorial Golf Tournament

Brods,

The 1st Rico Arranz Memorial Golf proceeds netted the UPBSF Inc.(Central) approximately Php 440K of which Php 120K are collectibles. The BOT is confident the collectible amount will come in soon.

The UP Barkada has waived its share in favor of UP Beta Sigma.

As I have mentioned in an earlier email, the financial report will be included in the Q4 2015 financial statement. This will be made available to us by UPBSF Inc Treasurer RaffyHidalgo'86.

As part of our commitment to the Rico Arranz golf,we have handed Php100K to the family of our Founder Rico.
Here is the message from tita Sol Arranz:
 

My dear Brods ,

Thank you very much for having the patience & forbearance to bear up with me .

Pls excuse my uncontrollable emotions whenever I talk to brods.
My tears of gratitude also in behalf of your Brod whom you have made extremely happy in aid for his resting in Peace .

He has time & again mentioned to me during his lifetime how proud he is of Beta Sigma & All Brods.

I am at a loss for words on how to express my heartfelt gratitude to you my brothers in Christ Betan Brods & the UP Barkada .

GOD sent Apostles of Christ. In the end there are 3 things that last FAITH , HOPE , & LOVE...& THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE . GOD BLESS & BE WITH BETA SIGMA & UP BARKADA FOREVER !

Thank you JJ, my fun memories with Brod Founder goes back a long way.

In 1994, I applied for a Valley Golf membership and I had very little knowledge of Atty. Rico Arranz except that he was the chairman of the membership committee and a Beta Sigman. In those times it was very hard to become a member, puro big time ang mga members and you had to be interviewed by a panel headed by Rico Arranz.

As I filled up my application and waited for my turn to be interviewed I purposely wrote Beta Sigma side by side with my name complete with batch name. As the interview progressed, he asked if I have been playing golf for a long time. I said that I was only a beginner, and he followed up by asking - "Bakit gusto mo dito maglaro ng golf eh beginner ka lang eh kung maka disgrasya ka dito kami pa ang sasagot".

I thought that was it, rejected ang application ko. Patay, pano na hindi man lang pinansin yung Beta Sigma, sabi ko sa sarili ko. Sayang, I was so disappointed that I had ask my group to do something about the application only to find out that he approved my application when he encircled the words "Beta Sigma".

After so many years, as we became acquainted as he always attended the Makati Chapter meetings, I began to know the real Rico Arranz, the real Beta Sigman. In one of our meetings in Valley Golf, he asked me to join him in the UP Barkada.For a long time it was just Rico who attended the meetings and tournaments; then it was Rico, me, Boyet Fernandez and Torch Manalang. The late Walter Navarro pala also played a lot before me. I saw the passion of the man especially when the frat's name was at stake, he never wavered, he never feared and when it came to dole-outs, his generosity was never equaled.

Thank you brods for the support given to the 1st Rico Arranz Memorial Tournament, we promise next year would be a better one.
