UP Diliman Beta Sigma Ladies Corps Celebrates 37th Anniversary

September is the month of Beauty, Service, Leadership, and Commitment as the University of the Philippines – Diliman Beta Sigma Ladies Corps celebrate their 37 years of existence and service to the Filipino people. To kick-start their anniversary week, which lasted from September 7 to 14, the ladies once again held their annual medical mission, Kindle, at Barangay UP Campus last September 7. The Beta Sigma Fraternity brothers from UERM aided in giving free health check-ups and consultations to at least 200 people in the said barangay. Attendees were also given freebies from Close-Up, URC and Eskinol, some of the event sponsors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

On their birthday, September 12, the UPD BSLC threw their grandest blowout yet when Delight: A Buffet in Candyland graced the streets of the UP Diliman Campus at around 11:00AM. This sweet-tasting grand pakain urged at least 300 students to waltz out of their dorms and tambayans (and be a tad late for class too) to line up at the grounds of the Kamia Residence Hall. Students got a knack in trying out a smorgasbord of sugar-infected treats and goodies. And not only this, students also got a chance to win gift certificates or prizes from the sponsors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From the aging populace, the ladies turned to the younger generation with their mini art workshop for the kids at the University of the Philippines Integrated School (K-2). With their Fine Arts members as guides, the ladies taught the kids how to make various crafts from colored papers and utilized different coloring materials as well. It was a fun-filled event to end the sunny day of September 13.

 

 

 

 

 

To round up their anniversary week, the UPD BSLC donned on their heels and their 1920 jazz-inspired outfits and strutted off to One Café and Events Place in Ortigas, Pasig City for Magnifique: The 37th Anniversary Grand Ball. This was held last September 14. Erika Wycoco, UPD BSLC’s current president, led the opening remarks to welcome the attendees, after which Brod Chris Michelena gave an inspirational message as a tribute to the BSLC. Afterwards, Jeanine Rivera led the oath-taking of the officers and new members, making them an official and integral part of our beloved organization.

 

 

 

 

 

The night wasn’t over for everyone, brods and LCs alike, because the ladies have prepared a mini-fashion show to spice things up! The inductees and the ladies from UP Baguio invaded the catwalk wearing dresses from Enna Online Dress Shop and Girl After Class, with the brods holding up drinks courtesy of one our sponsors, The Bar, to hand out to every lady walking past. Everyone received lootbags from our co-presenters and major sponsors.

 

With their week-long anniversary a grand success, it is likely that these ladies will once again bring honor and glory to the name Beta Sigma as they continue to advocate Beauty, Service, Leadership, and Commitment.
