Mig's opponent, Mario Sismundo, was a former WBO 12-rounder professional
boxer who shifted to mixed martials arts. Mario Sismundo came in with a
record of 11-0 in Amateur MMA and was 1-0 as MMA professional, winning
12 by knockouts before he fought Migs last week, April 28, at URCC 21 "
Warpath".
Miguel was a late replacement with 8 days before fight day and took the
fight on short notice.
One round is ten (10) grueling minutes. Fight lasted 19 minutes and 34
seconds before it was stopped.
Miguel Alo joined the frat March 16, 2003 in UP Diliman ( Batch name: "Gattaca") when
there were just 12 active resident brods. He was recruited by brod Danny
Lachica who gave him a lasting impression of what UP Betans were during
the '70s. He had so much respect for Dan and wanted to be a GP, a great
martial artist and the Best Betan during his time. The number of brods
rose to 47 during his 2 terms as GP. His three brothers (Gino, Chav and
Ivan) joined the frat and embraced the SOMA as a way to recruit new
brods. All three became Wielders of the Sword. Today the number of
resident brods remains at 40.
Migs started his martial arts training with Cedric Gloria, Dan Lachica,
Ollie Jumao-as, Raffy Hidalgo, Alvin Aguinaldo, Jopet Laraya and lastly
with Master Johnny Chiuten. He was 2-0 in Amateur MMA and is currently
3-2 in professional MMA.
He was a varsity member in Track and Field and was a member of the UP
Wrestling Team. He became a national athlete and was a two-time national
champion in the 66 kgs. before he decided to join professional MMA.
Migs is a graduate of Materials Engineering and will be taking up a
post-graduate course in IT.
His three brothers (Gino UPD
'05, Ivan UPLB '06 and Chav UPD '06) joined the frat and embraced the SOMA as a way to recruit new brods. All three became Wielders of the Sword.
