UP Beta Sigma Kinsfolk Brings Back '60s Songs

by Gilbert Joven '66

The UP BETA SIGMA KINSFOLK had a small get-together sans brod Pet Grajo at Dayrit's Resto in Magallanes last Jan. 18, 2012. Brods Boy Concepcion, Gilbert Joven and Lito Lazaro attended this first get-together. Boy brought his Yamaha guitar that he used during our happy singing days in the '60s. Lito, surprisingly, had a list of the songs that we used to sing in concerts and The Folkways of 1967. So with some voice stretching practice, we began to sing songs like "Softly" (in 3 voices), "That's What You Get For Loving Me", "Time" (lyrics provided by Boy) and some Everly Brothers tunes. The rest puro umpisa na lang kasi wala yung lead singer namin si brod Pet Grajo. Brod Lito Lazaro complimented us with the Betan caps. It was fun and I'm sure it will be more fun in Pinas when brod Pet Grajo visits us here, hopefully on or before December 2012.

Web note: After the UP SoCal Frat Ball in Sept. 2006 which he attended, Brod Pet Grajo wrote "A History of Folkways".
