project. Already, most of the basic structures are in place. Meetings
with UP Manila officials had been mentioned in previous articles in this
website. This includes support of the UP Manila Dean and Assistant Dean
in identifying quality and qualified students who could be part of
reviving our fraternity – Brotherhood of Scholars. BOD Ninong for UP
Manila Jayjay Jayme has likewise promised to financially support
scholars towards this end.
Discussions on how to support our Diliman resident chapter in its quest
to be the Fraternity of Choice was resumed at the start of the week

Brods,
Hand-over to UPLB and UPB were done directly with
the respective GPs, in the presence of the respective Ninongs. It would
be nice to have the same for UPM and UPV. Anyway, discussions with the
GPs also paved the way for possible intro- or re-intro- of the JCPS SOMA
discipline with the resident brods, something we will give more
attention in 2012.
The funds for UP Baguio project in January was turned over to GP Anton
Hipolito yesterday (28Dec), in the presence of Brods Ninong Dennis
Belmonte and UPBSF (Central) Veep Rolly Reyes (Prez Rene De Rueda is in
Cebu).
Brod Dennis Belmonte reminded GP Anton of the need for transparency in
the actual disbursement of the funds, as well as in the submission of
report within one (1) month after the actual holding of the activity.
Direct and indirect impact of the activity on the continuing recruitment
process shall be given priority attention.
Cheers!

(The Program)
Fraternal Greetings Brothers!
First of all, I would like to apologize for a sudden
change of plans to the proposal of the Beta Sigma Fraternity, UPV
Chapter. Please disregard the first proposal namely the “Socratic
Dialogues” since we’ve come up with a better plan with a higher
probability of success when it comes to recruitment. That event is the
Concert for a Cause.
Technically, the Concert for a Cause has a higher
probability of success as compared to the Socratic Dialogues since the
inclination of the students in UPV is towards party or concert events as
compared to group discussions. Through this event, the Fraternity can
attract more recruits since we will be known to the students as
big-event makers and “community workers” because of the cause of the
concert/party. Moreover, since we’ll be tying up with another
organization namely Partido sang Mainuswagong Bumulutho (for manpower);
we can make this organization as subject of recruitment.
This will be a concert – party that will be done
together with the brods from CPU and some organizations in UPV. A first
of its kind in Iloilo wherein there will be pong balls, and other gaming
things while a band is performing and it simultaneously happens with the
party. The plan is to invite Bahaghari (a reggae band from Iloilo that
joined PGT Season 3) as front act and a famous band in the Philippines
such as Parokya ni Edgar or Brownman Revival. This event will capture
the attention of the students in Iloilo City and Miagao. This concert/
party will be an avenue for brods from different parts of the country
thus giving the college students the knowledge that the Beta Sigma
Fraternity is a big fraternity when it comes to numbers.
Activity Design
This activity is open to all and will depend on the capacity of the
venue to accommodate guests. There will be tickets for the said event.
The plan is to ask sponsorship from Tanduay. However, rather than the
usual printed tickets, the participants will be asked to bring school
supplies that will be given to a selected community or elementary
school.
Activity Date
The event is tentatively scheduled on the month of February.
Recruitment Report
As of the moment, we have made some progress when it comes to
recruitment. I am one of the founders of the newly formed football club
in UPV and I am currently the one heading this newly founded
organization. I plan to make it like the Tumbleweeds wherein it will
become a venue for recruitment.
Activity Cost
There is no actual cost for the event yet; however, these will be
the things that must be accounted for the event:
a. Venue: A big venue for a party in Iloilo City
P8,000-10,000
b. Band Fees
P8,000-10,000
c. Publicities
P1,000
d. Drinks (Sponsored by Tanduay?)
P5,000
e. Food
P5,000
f. Fraternity Shirt
P6,000
______________
P33,000-P37,000
