Proceedings of the meeting:

Meeting started at 1:00 P.M. The discussions during the meeting can be divided into two: (1) Scholarship to UP Manila students to be given by the Jesus Jayme Foundation and (2) Activities to be done in UP Manila to promote the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity.

1. Scholarship
    a. The Jesus Jayme Foundation will give two full scholarships to two UP Manila students who will meet the following

        qualifications:
        i. Male, bona fide students of UP Manila, preferably freshmen
ii. Minimum general weighted average of “2.50” and no failing grade during the semester immediately before the screening
    b. There shall be Screening Committee composed of officials of UP Manila College of Arts and Sciences and alumni/residents of

         UP Beta Sigma Fraternity.
    c. Prof del Mundo gave documents a list of UP Manila students who are University Scholars and College Scholars (GWA of

1.75 or better) to GP Josh Caringal. Josh Caringal is expected to trim down the list to come up with a pool of viable

        candidates.
    d. The recipients of the scholarship should be those who are ‘Betan material’ and intend to join the Fraternity. However, it was made

clear that the scholarship will not be used as ‘carrot’ to persuade students to join the Fraternity.
    e. GP Josh Caringal will give Jayjay the rates of the scholarships currently enjoyed by brods so we can have a baseline of the amount of

scholarship to be given to UP Manila. GP Josh Caringal will give the said data not later than November 2011 when Jayjay returns to

        the Philippines.

2. Proposed activities at UP Manila

The following activities were considered to create visibility/image at UP Manila (College of Arts and Sciences):
    a. Medical mission for faculty, admin, and students
    b. Symposia/fora where prominent brods will be invited as speakers
    c. Welcome party for students

Likewise, Prof del Mundo invited the Fraternity to participate in the student counselling program she is heading by providing an on-call psychologist (preferably a brod) to provide counselling services to UP Manila students.

Since there is no resident chapter at UP Manila yet, activities of the Fraternity in UP Manila will be filed by the UP Diliman Beta Sigma Fraternity (which is recognized by the UP Diliman Office of Student Affairs). Applications will be coursed through Ms. Andrea Martinez of the Office of Student Services of CAS. Application for recognition of the Fraternity in UP Manila may also be applied at the same office.

Resident brods from UP Diliman will cross-enrol to UP Manila for the coming summer term to create visibility and expedite recruitment in the campus. Jayjay will cover the tuition and lodging expenses of the cross-enrolees. Prof del Mundo will give the Fraternity the current lodging rates in the area of UP Manila.

The meeting adjourned at 2:00 P.M.
