"The Heat is On" by Rolly Reyes'66
The day is May 5, 2010. With an afternoon drizzle dampening a full-day solar fry, a congregation of alumni and resident brods swarmed DENR's National Parks and Wildlife Center in Quezon City.
A well-planned fellowship concocted by DENR brods led by Usec Mon Paje and UPBSFAAI President Brod Ruben Pascual. Brod Mon generously hosted the dinner prepared by the Agulto's Gerardo's - a well known watering hole in the QC area. Pilsens and SanMig lites flowed throughout the whole evening to quench the "spiritual" cravings of 60-70 UP Beta Sigmans joined by a handful of university belt brothers. The highlight of the event is the "Rico Arranz Exemplary Service Award" given to our beloved trailblazer Brod Vic Ramos - for his dedicated and selfless efforts all these years in leading our fraternity to a higher ground (it was also VOR's birthday).
The occasion also recognized with much applause our new 2010 resident brods. We also welcomed the Betan graduates as they automatically became part of the fraternity's alumni association. Brod Ruben delivered the highlights of the 4 major resolutions passed by the present BOD of UPBSFAAI. Also announced was the appointment of Brod Ollie Jumao-as the new UPBSFAAI treasurer, who wasted no time in starting his job description.
Balikbayan Brod Raoul Reyes was there and mingled with everyone including our "venerables": Founder Atty. Rico Arranz, Dr. Teddy Topacio (our National Scientist) and presidential legal counsel Justice Raoul Victorino (who led a one-hour prayer). A whooping 40 plus contingent of UP Diliman resident brods attended and we were honored as well with the attendance of around 15 UPLB alumni brods.

The images uploaded will bare the new mercurial excitement brewing in the fraternity of choice. UPLB Brod Jojo Alejar cut short his Davao trip so as not to miss this one. Notable brods who joined is the Makati Chapter group led by Brods Atty. Boyet "The Godfather" Fernandez, Nonoy Bautista, Gene Puente, FG Pat Roman, father-and-son team of Brod Dante Agulto, the 2010 convenor group led by Brod Joel Paredes, golfer Walter Navarro, Doug Mondonedo, Bobby "King Cobra" Manansala, Rene de Rueda, Gen. Voltz Gazmin, Roy Lising, Chax Baldoria, Atty. Jelly Nacino, Frankie Llaguno, Ambassador Jimmy Yambao, GP Josh of UP Diliman, GP JR of UP Baguio, former Diliman GP Elmer Reyes, and many many others. Brods Ollie, Egay Aguilar, and I were the evening's photo clickers.
The Betan spirit is burning towards the centerpiece event of the year: 10-10-10!!!

Brod Kiko Yuzon, batch 2009B, receives UP SoCal scholarship from Nonoy Bautista
Brod Nonoy Bautista, Vice Grand Princep, will award the scholarship from U.P. Beta Sigma of Southern California Foundation, Inc. to UPD resident Brod Francis Albert "Kiko" Yuzon, Batch '09B (BS Family Life and Child Development, College of Home Economics). The scholarship is in the amount of $250 for the 1st Semester of Academic Year 2010-2011. Scholarship grant is based on the following three qualifications: (1) Financial; (2) Academic; and (3) Fraternal.
