Obituary / Messages

Sadly, I am sending you notice of the
passing of brod Rey Resurreccion, UP Beta Sigma, Diliman, batch '56 or '57, of
which I'm not so sure.
A bit of a background on Brod Rey: After graduation from UP College Of
Veterinary Medicine, he was recruited at UP Los Banos at the College of Animal
Husbandry as assistant professor, shortly thereafter, he was sent to Australia
for his doctorate in Tropical Veterinary Science. In 1972-73, we met at the
University of Georgia, Athens, where he and I had fellowships for graduate
studies; he went on to finish his PhD at Georgia where I also finished my M.S.
degree. He is married to Anna Agbayani the daughter of Professor Flor Agbayani
at the College of Fine Arts at UP Diliman
Rey and Anna had no children and while Rey was in grad school, Anna also went on
to graduate studies at UGA and finished her PhD in Food Science and Technology;
she was hired by UGA as assistant professor and had a very renowned career in
teaching and research at the University of Georgia. She later on retired as full
professor at the College of Food Science & Technology while Rey was doing
research and diagnostic virology work at the Georgia Animal Virology
laboratories in Athens, Georgia.
Rey has retired from his position at the laboratories after 30 plus years of
service. I am asking for prayers for his peaceful repose and may perpetual light
be upon him for all eternity.
Warm regards to all and God bless.
No Cheers,
Winston and Vangie Acevedo

Brod Rey and Sis Anna attended the NorthCal Fratball in San Francisco in May (?)
2009. That is where I and my family first met them. We were waiting for the
Hotel Airport Shuttle Bus at the bus stop. It so happened that we stayed at the
same hotel near the airport, the venue of the Fratball. We have been in touch
since then as my wife and Anna are both UP Food Tech graduates. Brod Dr Rey and
Anna are very close with our late brod Dr Ed Quisumbing from Vienna, Virginia. I
recall I picked them up from their condo in Rockwell where they usually stay
when in the homeland to attend the last rites for brod Dr Ted Teopacio years
ago. That was the last time I saw them.
So long , brod Dr Rey. Rest in eternal peace. Our deepest condolences to Sis
Anna and family.

Oh yes I remember him very well. A non terror brod from Vet Med - a rarity. A
very jolly fellow and a loving brod. May his soul rest in peace.

Rey is like a brother to me as we were both in UPLB in the same years during our
professional life.
I'm sure we will be together in
God's care in our final heavenly life.

He was close to my uncles Frank and David. He was a frequent guest at our family
gatherings at my Lola’s home. I called him Tito Rey.
