Good morning brods!
It is with deep sorrow that i am informing the brotherhood of the demise of my
ka batch and friend brod Edlin de Laza, dad of our esteemed artist brod Carlo.
Edlin had been suffering from various illnesses for some time now. The last time
i saw him was in 2022 during my wife's wake.
I just got a call from Josie, Edlin's wife this morning to inform me.
May Edlin's soul rest in eternal peace.

On Brod Edlin De Laza’s passing: I have an amusing story about Brod Edlin, the
“Gentle Giant” whom the brods called ‘Og’. When I was an amuyong, he kidnapped
me. Brod Edlin was a big man, of course the fear in me! He then brought out a
bouquet of flowers, then instructed me to personally deliver the flowers to the
lady he was courting then at that time, and further instructed me to say sweet
words to her, in his behalf. The lady could not control her laughter as I handed
her the flowers and whatever words I said to her…hehehe, I don’t know if that
lady ever became his girlfriend.

assistant and was his secret strategy in handling the ASEAN office smoothly till the end of
his term. And emphasizes of having a trusted/dependable brod in all his task and undertaking.
Brod Muloy was not only efficient & effective in his job and most importantly he delivered.

both as BOT (Board of Trustees). He has both served & contributed to the Fraternity till the end.
EULOGY By Brod Felicitos "Boy" Palis’74 - Brod Fele explains to the Family/Friends &
Brotherhood how Brod Boy Palis & I are blood related to brod Muloy Eala - The Grand
Mother Tia Pacita Carandang Eala from Tanauan, Batangas while the Grand Father
Quintin Eala from Pangasinan were our relatives. Tio Quintin worked as a librarian
at UP College of Agriculture in the early ‘30s.
The St. Therese Choir offered a Latin prayer for the departed brod with a song solemnly rendered
in 4 different voices. Headed by (1) Brod Boy Palis (2) Brod Ed Atienza’74 (3) Brod Jun Mamaril’80.
GP Gelo honors the departed brod for his loyal service to the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity with a Betan Pin.

I grieve the loss of Brod Muloy Eala’79a.
We were neighbors in Umali Subd. and entered UPRHS as freshmen in 1974. Both our
dads were also classmates at UPRHS.
Muloy and I joined Betan Elite at the same time in 1977, with Jojo Andres, the
late Ronnie Dimaano and 5 others as members of Batch ‘77a “Lucky Nine”.
Muloy joined Beta Sigma in the summer of 1979 with Nikki Samaniego, another high
school classmate and neighbor at Umali. I was his ninong and he was my first
ina-anak sa frat.
Muloy was a varsity player of the UPLB soccer team and was a member of the
Tumbleweeds rodeo team. He was a certified pabling.
But his athleticism and good looks could not escape ribbing from the brods. He
was ‘notorious’ for his smelly and sweaty feet. Brods avoided him like a plague
during SOMA sparring sessions. One time he played basketball at Mark Nubla’s
Tadlac home, and we all laughed at Muloy. His feet were enveloped with dust,
just like socks.
He became a father early in college. I was ninong to his first born, making
Muloy my first kumpareng brod.
He was earning well after college that he would always bring me to Agrix for
beer and nice pulutan. Sometimes, as early as 9 am he would come by my house to
convince me for drinks over at his place since bars are still close.
His drinking took a toll on his health, culminating in the need for dialysis
frequently.

Mahiwaga ang buhay brods. Brod Muloy went to the Coop Tambayan last Oct 5
Loyalty Day just before the parade. He was driven to Coop by his sister. Unable
to get down from their car, we went to him & kumustahan na. We gave him a 75th
Anniv Tshirt as he asked for it. Aside from the usual banter & get better brod
exchanges, we said our goodbyes,wala picturan at nasa loob ng kotse brod Muloy &
not feeling well kaya uuwi na daw sya. I would later learn bumalik sya uli sa
Coop, isang round pa to see the old Tambayan wika nga.
He was one of our 80s best athletes, soccer, SOMA & our rodeo lassoing champ &
so yes he got the campus girls’ attention especially sa PhySci where he was a
Math major. Yes, he was play hard & drink hard in the mid to late 2010s, when he
made LB his homebase again after a good career sa shipping industry.
He survived a bout w Covid-19. He even drove himself 2-3x a week to San Pablo
where he had his dialysis. (Mga pinsan nya Eala’s of San Pablo, former PBA Comm
Eala & tennis prodigy Alex). He would take the first hour appointment, driving
to San Pablo @5am. That was his routine until he crashed his car last year in
Calauan while driving to his dialysis appointment
