Our beloved Brod Albert S. Chiongbian '59 "The Magnificent Eight" (attached picture) passed away this Sept. 17, 2023 in Cebu City. Next year would have been his 65th Anniversary. He will be cherished for his extreme humbleness, quietness, kindess in generously sharing his blessings to his brods in need, and humour. This is a sad day for the brods who had personal acquaintance with him. We sincerely wish our condolences to his wife Telel and family.

I recall him to be of low profile guy in spite of their family status. I
oftentimes saw him ride in his light grey VW Beetle car just with slippers. Very
humble guy. We miss you Brod Albert but your imprints of memories among Brods

Brod Albert S. Chiongbian Aggie Batch ‘59 “Magnificent 8” joined our Creator
last Sept. 17, 2023. He requested his close brods not to inform the brotherhood
of his illness.
Brod Albert was one of the brods that Brod Dindo Rivera’60 mentions in his
special BBB grant.
“This is a special scholarship grant initiated by Brod Dindo Rivera’60. He is
honoring the legacy of a group of brods who struggled academically but had the
perseverance and fortitude to stick it out and earn their degrees. For the
4-year course they were enrolled, it usually took them an average of 5 years and
most summers to finish. The “Grove Continental Togs” were Brods Eto Oliva ’56,
Jess Pido ’57, Jimmy Lagdameo ’58, Albert Chiongbian ’59, Rudy Ortega ’59 and
Dindo Rivera ’60, named so because they rented a house at Grove, where lots of
brods used to hang-out.
Collectively, these brods were devoted members of the fraternity and despite
being care-free, fully enjoying fraternity and college life, they did so in
accordance with the principles of the Beta Sigma Fraternity. All these brods
became very successful in their respective business, professional endeavors and
lives after their college days.”

Hi Darryl,
Found an old picture when Albert paid me a surprise visit together with other
Brods, Enching Rodriquez, Diliman Brod, Jimmy Lagdameo, and Ning de la Paz who
took the picture. My first year in States, knocked at the door of my apartment,
and I was so surprised. You could hear my scream across the road. He just bought
a brand new red top down GTO, and touring the Country. I entertained them at the
top of Disneyland Hotel.

I remember in 1981, he (Brod Albert Chiongbian) in William Lines helped me in getting my name in the manifesto of getting inside the liner. I was listed by the Brod UP Cebu Brod Jojo Sybico, his father was an Executive Finance Officer and also my girl's father was also an Executive Finance Officer (William Lines). I really didn't know them, but when I met Brod Albert it seemed REALLY DIFFERENT BETA SIGMA. If he wasn't "busy", he would have joined me and had a conversation. I often remember that situation, and he was the only one who fixed it. There I learned from Brod Jojo S. that he was Brod Albert Chongbian. Right now, I miss him. I asked his brother while the brods were having a gathering, he just said that he would come and that he was super "busy" right now.

I remember we, Diliman brods, Christmas caroled him at his house somewhere in Makati (Urdaneta/Bel-Air Village?) in Dec. '71 during my term.
