1st wife: Roselle Gonda. Children: Monchette and Josh.
2nd wife: Julia. Children: Kyle and Angelo.
Brother: Betan Brod Godfrey Colet, PSBA Batch 89a; Sister: Angie Colet Martinez, Ladies Corps.
Angel "Buds" was UP Diliman, Pol.Sci. Worked at PRRM, Valera Law office.

Brod Angel "Budoy" Colet was a UPIS graduate, Class of 1979. He lived on UP campus growing up as one or both of his parents were UP employees. As a teenager, he grew up a big fan of the UP Beta Sigma and idolized Brod Sandy Daza, who was a neighbor of theirs. I don't know brod why he didn't join the frat sooner, but he eventually did in early 1983 as Batch 83B Lone Wolf. Sadly, he was one of the 6 brods who got criminally charged in connection with the death of brod Arbel Liwag, 83D Parthenon, who passed away in June of 1983 several days after completing his finals.

Freddy, I just talked to Dave's cardiologist and sadly informed me Dave's condition is not good. The water is the big problem because it is giving his heart difficulty in breathing. As I mentioned to you, a nephrologist will check on this problem. With Dr. Maliwat's statements, I felt so helpless and depressed. Please help me pray for Dave to overcome this terrible condition.

While in college, Dave took up agriculture and majored in animal husbandry. He dreamt of establishing his own cattle ranch in Bicol. Dave was a stage actor in the UPLB Beta Sigma production "Becket" and was a feared gentle warrior. He was with Brod Benild Pires as part of a select UP students that toured China in the late 60's. He worked in the company RL Umali Construction of co-batch brod Ruben Umali. He played golf often with his high school classmates and a source of laughter with his jokes in class reunions. A loving husband and source of inspiration to his grandkids, and above all a die hard Betan.

The first and only time I met Brod Dave was in Oct. 2007 when he gave me a call. He was vacationing, I believe with relatives, in Diamond Bar, CA where I lived then. I invited him to play golf with the brods and picked him up at his residence (435 Gunsmoke Drive, Diamond Bar). With Edsel Arceo, Rolly Balingit and myself, we played a round with Dave at Royal Vista GC.

Ben Casibang - "King Barracuda'64" from UP College of Fisheries along with his Fisheries sponsor Brod Babes Ranada'63. One unforgettable experience with Ben Casibang, as this was at the beginning of our initiation in '65, I still clearly remember. It was our first session at Slug Rigor's "dungeon" basement at his house at Horseshoe Village, San Juan. Ben positioned himself at the door leading to the initiation hall area. As each one of us passed dressed in our white tees and shorts, he shouted "BETA SIGMA!" and gave us a hard, "barracude-like" whack at the back of the head.

Ben joined the Metrocom Command, where I had another memorable encounter with him (but that's another story). At the golden anniversary of UPD'64 in July 2014, Vic Tirol narrated this on their batch memoir that was published in the 2014 Anniversary Souvenir Program.

In 1987, Ben would become mayor of Piat, Cagayan for 10 years. As I was researching online on Ben, I ran across the interesting article below on the political dynasty/rivalry between the two prominent feuding families, the Casibang and Villacete, in Piat, Cagayan.

This is Alyanna, Alan’s daughter. It is with a heavy heart to let you all know that my daddy has passed away. The doctor has confirmed that he failed to wake up Saturday morning, and the cause was his hypertension. It pains me and my mother, his wife, Carol, that it all happened unexpectedly. But we are comforted that he didn’t have to suffer and he left peacefully and happily.

We are asking for your prayers during these difficult times. And if you may also join us this coming Monday-Tuesday to honor him during his wake, and his burial will be on Wednesday. Details are as follows:

Wake: Haven of Angels Memorial Chapel and Crematorium
Burial: Loyola Gardens of Antipolo, Antipolo, Calabarzon (time-TBA)

Here's what I gathered about the late Brod Alan Batallones. (I now remember him at several Frat balls).

He’s batch 75‘C Diliman; his Kabatch among others are Ben Albarece and Lionel Latoja, now based in Chicago I think. He’s from Davao and was recruited by Southern brods mga Cebuano and Bisaya from Mindanao. Entered UP to take Industrial Engineering but graduated with an AB degree. Before UP and the Frat, he qualified for PMA except he did not pass the physical examination. He worked at Farm Systems Development Corporation (FSDC) and retired from working in the private sector. 67 years old married with one daughter, a commercial airline pilot. He was buried yesterday April 6th.

So sad, mga Kabatch!!!

Brod Alan Batallones has gone on home to our creator. Yesterday, he had a drinking bout -- he collapsed. He recovered, went home, and took a shower.

He slept, never woke up. Suspect is stroke. He'll be cremated today.
