Brod Rey Obed in my early years at the frat was the occupant of Rm#1 at the
Tan’s dorm where he had a view of the street. His music of Mozart and other
early classics permeated his room that he seemed to hum and dance to the music
on his way to work which in that time was the Chemistry Dept. He owned a black
British made car maybe Morris or Austin which had a turn signal that drops from
the side of the window flashing yellow. Always smiling with a quick pace walk
carrying a big black umbrella, he looked like a professor in every sense and he
is a Brod. He bonded well with the Brods. Reading Brod Nick Galvez’ announcement
of Brod Rey Obed’s passing made me gather memories from the 60’s and finally
meeting him once again here in the States and where else at a Beta Sigma
gathering. Still the smiling Brod feeling the brotherhood . May you Rest In
Peace my dear brother. My condolences to Leonor Rita.

I knew Brod Rey when I stayed at the International House Dorm during my freshman
year. Found these pictures of 34 years ago when Brod Rey Obed and wife Dada
Villegas Obed attended his very first UP Betan gathering in America in San
Francisco. The year was 1987! This was the first and last time I saw Brod Rey
although we often communicated until 2019 when I invited him to join us in UP
North’s "Affair to Remember" in Monterey,CA. I remember him to be very happy to
have attended the affair to be reconnected with so many Betans. Unfortunately,
he was willing but unable to join us in Monterey.

*About Billy Monteagudo UPD'56, DVM:
"Brod Billy worked in the Department of Agriculture as poultry inspector in
Georgia and later in Alabama. It was here where he was promoted as
Inspector-in-Charge and stayed in that position for five years. In 1976, he
moved to California and with his vast experience in poultry and slaughter plants
he became Supervisory Veterinary Medical Officer and Inspector-in-Charge of four
plants in Stockton, California. Brods Billy and Narcing Lapuz started a
partnership in 1982 and put up their veterinary clinic in Sacramento."

Brods, I just received a call from UP Min Brod Dr. Khalil’00 - na heart attack daw si Brod Jason Rosales’05, sa Pagadian, while having a meeting with his team, DOA na sa hospital. Kabatch ni Polo Ramirez and Verman Guevarra. Brod Jayson is a Vet Med, connected with Boehringer, Ingelheim. I last saw him in Davao, had a few drinks at Tropika Hotel.
