It is with profound sadness for me to announce the untimely death of Brod Thaddeus Hamoy, UPLB 1962 and former GP of that chapter.
He died at 1:30pm today in his farm in Dapitan. He was formerly Consul in Israel when we visited the Holy Land with his diplomatic assistance.
Prayers are requested for the repose of his soul.
"I was Thad’s best man in his renewal of vows to mark his golden wedding anniversary last year in Dapitan."

The passing of Brod Thad Hamoy was really shocking. UPLB brods were greeting him
on his birthday (Dec. 19) as he was active in the Tumbleweeds VG. The following
day we were saying our good byes.

The Betan nation mourns the passing of a diplomat with agriculture background
from our very own UPLB. He represented the goodness of a Beta Sigman as shown by
the celebrations of his birthday on our VG, and now he has left us.

Strange as it may seem but I scrolled down our VG and found Brod Thad Hamoy’s last posting was recalling the memorable moments with the late Brod Mel Gulfin during a recording session while the Mt Pinatubo ashfall was all over Manila.
Even in death,our two Brods showering brotherly love and affection. God works in
mysterious ways. The heavens are smiling for our two Brothers.
For us left behind,your fond memories will light up our spirits.

Tempus fugit (Time flies). A few days ago, Brod Thad was singing paeans to
dearly departed Brod Mel G. And now , his turn to be toasted.
The Betan Hymn aptly captures Brod Thad’s place in the Betan Brotherhood: ‘We
are the Betans with much work to do. Making it easy for those who are new. We
never complain, nor do things in vain. For the Betans live up to their name(s).’
Indeed, Brod Thad was a great mentor , to me specially, when I joined the frat.
Upon graduation from UPLB,he went back to his hometown, and with a young,
talented, and engaging wife, set about to participate in community -building via
local politics. And rose up the political ladder to become a regional leader in
Western Mindanao.
In time, he joined the Phil Foreign Service and brought his act on the world
stage.
Throughout his storied life, there was one thing that stood out, however. It was
his spiritual growth. On his way to their first visit to the Holy Land before
the new millennium, Brod Thad and Hilda visited with us in Cairo. We got to know
each other on another plane. This is what I have treasured since then about the
lovely couple.
To my mentor and dear colleague, my wife joins me in prayer as you take your
rightful place in the home that our Father has prepared for you.

I am in shock reading just now about Brod Thad's passing on today. We had a very
good conversation when I called him this past Saturday to greet him a happy
birthday.
It is indeed a very depressing news to me because we were very close in College.
Just recently reconnected with him after both of us where out of the country.
Little did I know he worked for the Department of Foreign
Affairs. He retired after his tenure as Vice Consul in Israel.
Our deep sympathy and condolences to his wife Hilda and their children Mark and
Amalicon & their families.
