Dear Brods:

It is with sadness to inform the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity that, per information relayed by his wife Chato, one of our eminent Academician members of our dear fraternity, Oscar V. Gulmatico, UPLB Forestry Batch 64 (Devoted to you), had joined his Creator yesterday, December 27, 2018. He was 71 years old. He died at UERM Hospital and the cause of death was Respiratory Failure. He is survived by his wife Rosario (Chato) C. Gulmatico and his son Ammiel. Sister Chato is working at DENR MIMAROPA Regional Office, Roxas Boulevard, Manila as Chief of Administrative Division. His son Ammiel is on 2nd year Medicine proper at UP PGH.

Brod Oscar was born on May 20, 1947 at Los Ba
ños, Laguna. He finished his Bachelor of Science in Forestry in 1966 and Master of Science in Botany in 1969 at the then UP College of Forestry in 1966, his Masters in Business Administration at UP Diliman in 1975 and his PhD at the University of Massachusetts in 1979. He taught at the then UP College of Forestry and later at UP Diliman. I was told that he was given an eminent designation/ appointment as Professor Emeritus during the time of UP President Emerlinda Roman. Before his retirement at the age of 70, he was appointed as the Dean of the De La Salle/ Araneta University Graduate Studies Department and later, as the University of the East's Graduate Studies Department at UE Caloocan Campus.

The wake for Brod Oscar is at St. Peter Chapel, La Loma, Caloocan City. Viewing dates starts from December 30, 20118 till January 3, 2019. The date of cremation is to be announced later. I hope that the fraternity's final rites can be coordinated with the grieving family asap.

May our loving God grants eternal rest on Brod Oscar's soul!

P.S. Brod Oscar is a very close and dear friend to me, and my batch mate in our dear fraternity. He is surely to be missed...

UPBSI Flash News

==============================

Brod RENE,

It’s a sad news to learn the demise of Brod Oca, your kabatch. I was looking forward meeting him during the awarding night during our fratball last July, but it was his son who received the award. I knew Brod Oca when I was a resident brod every time there were frat activities on Aggie grounds he was one of the forestry brods who joined us. He was present also during initiation rites( finals) n College of Aggie.

Brod RENE, I really want to be present in the final rites, but unfortunately I’m flying to Japan w/my whole family tonight & be back on the 2nd Jan’19, a family tradition to end the year outside of the country. Don’t worry, I have talked to JOJO A & he will manage things to get a good attendance especially brods from Forestry. Ex-Pres JOEL P will coordinate with him. Meanwhile, I will pray for the eternal repose of Brod Oca’s soul & May he rest in peace!!! No Cheers!!
