Dear Brod Dutch,

He is currently the DENR CENRO of Laguna. Sick leave sya since early July kasi nasa labas-masok na sya sa hospital for a month. More than a year na daw sya battling lung cancer. Isa nalang un di nakaka-graduate na anak nya, si Brod Kevin. Di muna nag-enrol si Kevin ngayon kasi tumutulong sa pag-alaga kay Toots. Brod Toots cannot breath normally now, kailangan nya naka-oxygen na lagi. Un lungs nya needs to be drained of water regularly. Kaya di sya makalabas ng hospital.

Nadalaw ko sya sa hospital kahapon, he is weak, though in high spirits.

I am writing you now to inform you that Brod Toots Alaira 82b is now confined here at the Coronary Care Unit of St. Lukes Global Bonifacio due to complication of his 4th stage lung cancer.
The family has already exhausted their savings for more than a year of his battle against cancer. According to his wife Sofie, who is my office mate at SESAM-UPLB, Brod Toots is now in critical condition.
We hope we could help him in his recovery soon.

Brod Toots was among the 5 Forestry students who joined the frat in 1982, “Phoenix”, the last batch under GP Olrac’77. Their finals was at the famous Flat Rocks.
Toots was the oldest among the neophytes and was really mature looking. It would be an asset for him because our opponents feared his demeanor.
Back then his mom owned a beer house near the rest stop in Camp Eldridge, which we frequented. Meron ding mini-resort doon, Dampalit Falls.
Toots’s aunt was the famous Emma Henry, the only female police cop of LB who patrolled in a big bike. Her life story was made into a movie. But she was assassinated by npa hitmen, so they said.
I feel sad that Toots’s Betan son, Kevin’09b, has stopped schooling to take care of his dad.
I really hope that you could find it in your heart to help Toots and his family.

It is with sadness to relay to you the passing of Brod Toots, past midnight October 20, Phil time.
Brod Ambo is with Toot’s wife and son, Brod Kevin, making arrangements with Heaven’s Garden at Anos, LB.

Please pray for Toot’s soul, as well as his family.

Last rites for Brod Toots Alaira will be on Wednesday, October 24. Interment will be Thursday morning, October 25 at Heaven's Garden, Brgy. Anos, LB.
