Black Saints 50th Anniversary - Eastwood Richmonde Hotel, Jan. 30, 2016

Barely three weeks before Ric's unexpected death, the Black Saints celebrated their 50th anniversary belatedly at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Libis, Q.C., which Ric coordinated successfully. Our finals was on Dec. 9, 1965 but we agreed to have the reunion after the holiday season so the overseas kabatches could come. Other brods and wives helped us celebrate our golden and we thank them. - NormB

Kabatches/Brods,

This is not very good news! Our kabatch Rick Tolentino suffered a big stroke this morning. He was rushed to Marikina Valley Medical Center by his son Henry. However, due to the non-availability of the ICU unit, he will be transferred to St. Vincent Hospital, located at Bayanbayanan Ave., Concepcion, Marikina City.

Let us all offer our heartfelt prayers for the speedy recovery of our Kabatch Rick. We will coordinate with his wife Phine as to

how we can offer financial assistance to the family.

Thank you so much Brods.

It is so sad to note that after our batch reunion, kabatch Ricky has to leave us. Thank you for the Betan key chain you gave me on Dec 10th -- our mini- reunion at the Podium and was lucky to have shared with you and our other kabatches the laughter we usually enjoy on such occasions. Most of all thank you for being a brod and kabatch at that. We'll miss you!!!!My condolences to the family!!!

Kabatch Ricky was setting up lunch at the Podium 2 days ago then texted back to say the lunch date is being moved to a later date. I feel very sad that this lunch date at the Podium will never happen and the next black Saints Podium lunch date will be without Ricky. I am in tears Kabatch Ricky.....You did not give away any slight hint. Farewell beloved kabatch. Rest in peace.

Go in peace, Brod Ricky... and join our other brothers who went ahead of you.

Thank you for standing as my frat sponsor in 1967, dutifully taking over from my original sponsors Brods Pong Lustre and your cousin Jeje de la Santa. You were never absent in all those four sessions and watched over me during my amuyong days.

At the Tambayan, you have brought a lot of joy and laughter with your funny stories, and I continue to use some of them. I will always remember you by your cheerful demeanor and your passion for our beloved fraternity.

May God embrace you with his loving hands.

With much love,
Willie "Tatang" Vergara

The unexpected news on the death of Brod Rick T, who had a healthy looking frame, is another sad and shocking news for our great brotherhood! He was one of the Diliman Brods whom I found very amiable to talk to.
May our loving God grant him eternal rest and bless his grieving family!
Let us continue praying for the eternal repose of brod Rick, including the souls of all our departed founders and brothers.

It's a terribly sad news to hear of Rick Tolentino passing away from stroke. I know he has been battling some health problems
lately but this his sudden demise is the last thing I'd expect.
A big loss for me Ricky not only being a great brod but a bubbly and hilarious former high school classmate in Cubao with brods Norman and Gene Samson. I feel doubly sad and regret that I did not have the chance to see him even once the last 40 years.
Brods, let us all pray for the repose of his soul.
So many years having known Ricky. Hard to forget.

I was out for a week and just came from Saskatchewan. Like many of you, I was surprised and deeply saddened to read all the email messages about the untimely death of another beloved brother – Brod Ric Tolentino of Black Saints ‘65.

Brod Ric joins his fellow Black Saints in the world beyond – Brods Edwin Moscoso, Gamy Manikan, Larry Tumaneng and Jun Leico.

On behalf of UP Beta Sigma International, and for the many of us whose lives was touched by Brod Ric, I would like to express our deepest sympathy to his wife, children and all his loved ones.

From the land of the beautiful Buddhist pagodas in Bagan, Myanmar, l join you Brods in mourning and shedding a tear for another one of beloved brother whom we have so liked and loved.
