UP North holds last rite for brod
Emmanuel Fajardo Sr., UPD ’57
by: Gabby V.
Moraleda
The Vet Med brods came in full force, one brod just arrived from Manila
after attending the Platinum and UP North brods and sisters drove from the
Bay Area and Salinas to Rescue CA to hold our last rite for brod Emmanuel
Fajardo Sr. DVM, UPD ‘57. He passed away on July 10, 2016 from a lingering
illness.
Emmy, as he is known, is married to Eppie. They are
blessed with 3 talented and highly educated sons -- Eric, a medical
doctor, Emmanuel Jr. , a physical therapist and Paul, a lawyer. The Betan
DNA of excellence is evident.
Eulogies and vivid recollection of
fun memories in campus were cheerfully retold by Winston Acevedo, Fred
Aquino (Emmy's kabatch) and Billy Monteagudo. In their response, his sons
gave very touching stories and tales of how a great father he was.
The highlight of the evening was pinning the Betan pin to Eppie, a symbol
of our brotherhood and an expression of our enduring bond not only with
Emmy but with his family. It is what we do, because of who we are -- the
UP North Family.
And, a fitting honor for a brod who served his
fraternity well.

UP SoCal brods,
Since GP Roy and Vice GP Danny are both in RP, I am
forwarding this obituary notice emailed to me by Ike Araneta,
who is
also in RP. The notice was sent by Harlean, wife of Bobby Pascual.
A gentleman and a very amiable person, let's offer our prayers for
Brod Emmy Fajardo. Emmy had attended our
frat balls here in LA a number
of times and we will miss him.

SAD…. VERY VERY SAD… He became very close to me as he was among the first
UP Betans I've met in Sacramento. We first met at the home of Brod Billy
Monteagudo in mid-1997, which Regadio and Nong Fred were also in
attendance.
I was among those who he gave easy access to his
exclusive community in Granite Bay. Before he transferred to this plush
community, he lived 5 minutes from my home and visited him quite often.
A welcoming person that he is, I brought visiting brods to his home
like Grandmaster Johnny Chiuten and his wife, our very beloved Eding Hizon
'63 and UPLB Brod Mino Cabral '58 and Sis Lea, my daughter-in-law's dad
and mom.
Brod EMY FAJARDO '57 and wife Eppie also hosted frat
gatherings at his home. I remember Dean Ted Topacio (Emy's professor)
lodged there in May 2001 on the occasion of the founding of UP Beta Sigma
International. He told me quite a number of times that his kids had been
asking him….. "Dad, what's with your being a member of your fraternity?
You seem to be so dedicated to it." And the kids had their own reasons, of
course. Brod Emy (at least during my time and Ike's time as GP) attended
almost every frat activity in spite of his advanced age.
Brod EMY
and Sis Eppie are perhaps one of the exceptional Betan couples who have
produced one summa cum laude, one magna cum laude and one cum laude… all
their three children graduated in good US universities.
Brod Emy
had been suffering from cancer for more than a decade. He was first
operated on in early 2000 and, as Sis Eppie had prayed for, Brod Emy
regained his health "like spring" after operation.
It pains me that
I won't be able to attend Brod Emy's funeral services.
