This is Evelyn Pinlac. My father
Adolfo has passed away
I would like to inform everyone that my father Adolfo Pinlac passed away
this morning in the E.R. of UDMC hospital... they tried to revive him. He
suffered from pneumonia, pleural effusion resulting in cardiomegaly and
got hospitalized for it. A week after his discharge from the hospital, he
became constipated, we believe it was because of the antibiotics he was
taking. A doctor said that in his pneumonia-weakened state, even a day of
constipation is bad for him. He became increasingly weak in the 4 days of
his constipation. Yesterday I took him to the E.R. for a rectal exam. They
took an x-ray and found that his large intestine was full of stool that he
couldn't get out. They gave him a laxative syrup and let us go home. This
morning, the 5th day of his constipation, we found that we couldn't wake
him and his breathing was shallow. His breathing stopped around the time
we got transport to rush him to the E.R. They tried to revive him in the
E.R. for around an hour, then informed us that he couldn't sustain a
heartbeat. We asked for an autopsy to find out what really caused his
death.
Dad's wake will be at St. Peter in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City. The
tentative chapel is the Proverbs chapel. the viewing will start on April
26, Sunday, and the last day will be on April 30, Thursday until 12 noon,
then he will be taken to the crematorium. After 4 hours, his ashes will be
brought back and the urn will be sealed in everyone's presence. Service
will be held by a pastor 8AM on April 27 and 28.
I hope you all could come... please forward the news to anyone i missed
who may know dad... Thank you very much.
Evelyn V. Pinlac

Adolf was a dear Frat Brod a few years my junior. He was also a dedicated
student of the Betan kung fu program under Brod Johnny Chiuten.
May he rest in peace.

It's another sad day for the frat… Dolf Pinlac is, indeed, a gentleman, a
karateka, and a very well mannered brod.
May he rest in the Loving Arms of the Lord Almighty.

Dolf was one of the first Betans I've known. As a high school student, I
would look forward to Saturday nights when the Vanguard Betans would
congregate at our place after their ROTC drill. I would 'rub elbows' (I
was actually their ice boy for the beer) with the likes of Wally Dumaoual,
Hanni Manikan, Andrew Cayetano, Ed Soliman and Dolf Pinlac. I had a blast
eavesdropping in their conversation. It was an awesome group of
intelligent, confident and good looking men. At age fourteen, I knew what
fraternity I would join.
I remember Teddy telling me that Dolf should have been the Corps
Commander, instead of Prudencio Castillo, if selection was based on
merits, not politics.
Rest in peace Dolf.

Please extend my personal condolences to the family of Dolf Pinlac. Very
sad to hear about his illness and untimely passing. Have good memories of
Dolf; he belonged to the time we were at Diliman campus.
My prayers for repose of his soul and peace to his family.

I read that Brod Dolf Pinlac, panlaban natin sa armor division noon, had
passed away. Very sad news indeed..... I remember Adolf as a very quiet
brod, had a charming smile always pero hindi mo kakatakutan kasi mukhang
napakabait na tao, and if I may add, mahinhin at tipong wouldn't hurt a
fly. His whole persona only changes when he put on that armor, then he
becomes menacing and woe to the other guy in the other corner, siguradong
bugbog! We heard stories about him when we were new brods and practicing
kung fu (make that street-fighting). I saw him in action at a Kafephil
tournament at the Pope Pius center in Taft Ave sometime in 1971 when the
brods competed and carried the banner of the Black Secrets karate group of
Noli Nolasco. The pictures I am attaching are all from that tournament, "hiniram
ko kay Noli" pero hindi niya alam. Let us all remember our departed
brother Adolf.

In behalf of the Beta Sigma
Fraternity, Canada in Toronto, we would like to convey our deepest
sympathy and condolences to brod Dolf Pinlac's Family. May he rest in
peace.
I have known brod Dolf during my high school days in U.P. Together with
the late brods Teddy Rey and Condoy Navarro, they were the mentors of the
U.P. High COCC Class of 1962. After a year of training, the 3 brods
recommended me to be the Corp Commander of the PMT class for the school
year 1963. Unfortunately, I was asked to enroll in another high school for
reasons unknown to me until this time.

Quiet, unassuming, a mild-mannered
brod, there’s much more than meets the eye with brod Dolf Pinlac. on many
occasions, we have had several conversations on what the brotherhood
should be. his innards is Betanly, and you can sense that he grasped the
kinship that we always have. he will be sorely missed. Brod Dolf, proud
and honored to have known you.
With much grief.

Dolf was our tactical officer and instructor during our ROTC offficer
days...HE WAS JUST AND ADMIRABLE OFFICER AND GENTLEMAN. He used to drop by
our home in Area just to talk and remember the golden years of the Frat. I
will personally miss him as a brod and a friend. May you rest in peace.

To the family of Brod Adolf Pinlac:
Please accept my sincere condolences and prayers for the eternal repose of
the soul of our dear brother - Adolf Pinlac.
I met Brod Adolf a number of times and always, very unassuming, "parang
ilog na tahimik ang agos, malalim ang pagka Betan".
Brod Adolf, we will miss you. May our loving God grant you eternal rest.

I am shocked and saddened by the news of Brod Dolf Pinlac's passing. He
was a good friend as a Betan brother, a Vanguard compatriot-mentor and one
of the pillars of the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity Kungfu Karate Klan under
the tutelage of the late Master & Brod Johnny F. Chiuten Jr. Brod Dolf as
one of the UPBSSOMA's Black Belts was a fierce competitor at Karate
tournaments on the full contact "armour" division with the Karate
Federation of the Philippines (KAFEPHIL). He has a masterful expertise in
art of Aikido together with his old buddy, adventurer and close friend
Brod Andrew Cayetano. His quiet and soft speaking demeanor has created an
ultimate aura of confidence and trust among his friends.
Brod Adolf will be missed. My
condolence and prayers for the family and may his soul have peace in the
Kingdom of the Lord.

On behalf of the Beta Sigma Midwest, please accept my deepest sympathy and
condolence for your loss. I met Dolf during the karate sessions I attended
in Area 14, the house of Johnny Chiuten.....if my memory serves me right,
at one time, he caused the fracture of the arm of his opponent in an
armored-full contact karate tournament we (THE BETA SIGMA KUNG FU KARATE
CLAN) had.
He is an unassuming brod whose demeanor runs quiet like a deep
water......he will.surely be missed by our Betan family......
FAREWELL BROD DOLF.

It was gratifying seeing the gathering of brods during the memorial for
Brod Dolf Pinlac. The unity and camaraderie seeing those photos brings
warm feelings despite the sadness of the occasion. I salute the local
Philippine based brods who paid homage and respect to Dolf and his
immediate family.
May God guide us and protect our brotherhood, and may our filial bond
remain till eternity. "Mabuhay tayong lahat"
Fraternally,
Winston '61
