Brod Norm -
Brod Ces Aparato passed away on Jan 12, 2015 at his residence in Houston.
His body was brought to the city morgue. The niece (daughter of Ces' elder
brother) who lives in Laredo will try to drive to Houston this week and
inquire re: finances for the cremation. A few family relatives will try to
raise funds for the cremation and morgue expense, since the mother of Ces
(the former UP Chemistry professor) is requesting for half the 'ashes' of
our dear brod be brought to the Phil.
No cheers pa rin,
Aman Carolino

Dear Brods,
Cesar "Ces" Aparato, UPD'69, has been confirmed deceased by Aman Carolino
(please read his email) and also through my UP College of Geology brods/friends.
Ces was a geologist who had worked in South America and, from what I
understand, gotten married there and raised his family in Houston. I
believe he had fallen in hard times with no adequate medical coverage when
he suffered a debilitating stroke many years ago. Judge Rey and Manny
Casaclang were able to visit him in Houston during his long illness.
I will make my appeal short for those who can help - especially those who
had known Ces in UP elementary, high school and college; in the UP Area
neighborhood where he grew up in; in our UP Beta Sigma Fraternity with his
batch mates, close contemporaries and brods/colleagues in UP Geology.
Let us grant the wish of his mother, Prof. Aurea Aparato, a former UP
chemistry professor, to have her son's ashes be brought back home to the
Philippines, as well for Ces' younger brother, Brod Alberto "Poti",
UPD'77, and the rest of his family.
Please send any contribution, which we will remit to Ces' kin in Houston,
to:
Norman Bituin 449
S. Frankfurt Ave., West Covina, CA 91792
I will provide a statement of the collected funds after our help has been
extended.
Fraternally,
Norman

Brod, bakas ako for Ces. Ces was an unassuming brod, kept to
a small circle of brods during our times; we had several "escapades" and
his home was opened to "jug-a-lug" sessions; he was headed to be an
electrical engineer in UP; sama sama kami noon; it was 1969 and there were
a few brods in the college of engineering -- si Pogs, Ed Abon, Engie De
Gracia, Fred Ang and Ferdie Echieverri; but fate would lead Ces to be a
distinguished geologist
Their class (which included brods -- Pol Damasco+ , Francis Santos, Judz
Rey and Ed Tadiar) distinguished themselves in the field of geology --
some of them were recruited to form the nucleus of the Oil Exploration
team of PNOC; Ces chose to try the international arena. I lost touch of
him after college
I grieve. And yet, I am comforted that Ces is now with our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ...

Our prayers and sympathy to the family of Brod Cez Aparato and to Brod
Poti Aparato.
Cez was a good Betan and a friend.
He once visited me during the time that he was conducting training in Red
Deer, Alberta, Canada for personnel of the
oil company Schlumberger in his
capacity as the company's safety training officer.
Learned that he was based in Texas and has a lovely family. That was a
great meeting of old friends from Area 14.
Learned about the stroke that incapacitated him and jeopardized his
brilliant career in the oil and gas industry.
You will be missed Brod Cez....May you have peace and eternal rest.

It is always sad news when we hear
of a colleague and brother of his passing. Please extend my condolences

Para kay Ces.
I pray for him and his family. I remember, he would hang out at the
canteen near the Chem pavilion with Pol Damasco,
had a few shots of gin with them on
occasion. So sad to hear about him.

Brods,
Please find attached the files for the Ces Aparato fund and check that I
mailed this morning to Lucette, Ces' wife. I waited a week for the
individual donations to come in and sent her a cashier's check for the
total amount of $2,270*. Angela Gubser from Laredo, Texas, Ces' niece, took
care of the funeral expenses of $1,800. Ces' kin said that we could give
the fund to Lucette.
According to Lucette, the cremation and mass will be on Feb. 2 at Carnes
Funeral Homes in South Houston. Carnes will facilitate the transport of
Ces' ashes to the Philippines, per his mother's wish, the former UP
chemistry professor, Prof. Aurea Aparato.
In my conversation with Lucette, she said that "Cesar was a good man" who
worked hard and provided for his family. They met in Peru where they lived
in 1974-1980. The geologist Ces took assignments in South and Central
America - Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico - and in Africa - Morocco, Mozambique,
Angola, Chad. In fact, he was scheduled to fly to Africa the following day
when he suffered the stroke. In Chad, Ces had to leave because of the
civil war but still found the time to bring her a box of pastries, Lucette
recalled. They have two sons, Cesar and Alberto, born 1980 and 1985. She
also said that Cesar was "a good patient". In the seven years that she
took care of him, she said he never complained. They would have coffee
together and stayed close to one another.
Lucette thanks everyone for the support and prayers. I do likewise.
God bless us all and our departed.
*Two more checks of $125 came and
sent to Lucette on 2/05 bringing total to $2,395.
Fraternally... Norman
