The "Big Kahuna" of Waikele Premium Outlets

by Willie Vergara'67

Brod Cesar “Yay” Topacio of the UP Northern California Chapter recently got promoted as General Manager of Waikele Premium Outlets in Waipahu, a suburb of Honolulu county.  He worked as Operations Manager at the Folsom Factory Outlet for 5 years, where a lot of brods had been visiting him to get further discounts.

The plan of Yay and wife Jin is to maintain their house in Folsom.  Jin will be doubling up as mom and dad to Alyssa and Serjei. The couple decided not to uproot young children Alyssa and Serjei from school. Their timetable is two years for Jin and Serjei to join Yay in Hawaii.  That means that for a few more years the Chapter will continue to enjoy the presence of the Topacios during their family gatherings.

Because of this move, Yay informed Incoming GP Manolo Banzon that he has to let go of his current officer post in the Chapter, but requested to remain part of the Chapter’s e-mail loop.  Yay will be joining about 3 UPLB brods and 1 Diliman brod in Hawaii.

Yay is a big loss to Northern California but a big gain for the whole frat, especially those who will be visiting the vacation islands of Hawaii. The Sacramento-based brods gave Yay and Jin a send-off dinner at the Continental Buffet in Sacramento last February 18, 2009.
