Awarded. Frat Ball keynote speaker Dr. Teodulo Topacio, Jr. (DVM '51, Beta Sigma '48) was recently given the Achievement Award by the National Research Council of the Philippines and the 2000 Microbiologist Award by the Philippines Society of Microbiology. He is currently chairman of the PRC Board of Veterinary Medicine, and academician of the National Academy of the Philippines.

Promoted. Former Diliman GP Danny Lachica '71B was recently promoted to President of First Sumiden Circuits, Inc. (FSCI), a pioneer manufacturer of flexible printed circuits in the Philippines last April 2001. This was seen as indicative of the Japanese group’s confidence in Filipino leadership. Dan Lachica is a UP Electrical Engineering graduate and an MBA graduate of the San Jose State University.
