Dear BOD Brods,

Cheers and congratulations brothers. You now comprise the UPBSI Board of Directors for 2020 to 2022. In accordance with our election rules and timelines, you may begin nominating brods only from your ranks (BOD) the next UPBSI President. Nomination starts tomorrow Thursday August 6 and ends Thursday August 13. You may vote beginning Friday August 14 until Friday August 21. The new UPBSI President will be proclaimed and announced to the general membership Saturday August 22.

Brods, paki sigurado that the BOD you are nominating is willing and is interested in becoming the UPBSI President for the next two years. Get him to explicitly agree that he is being nominated. Paki include na rin ng kunting "bio-data" tungkol sa kandidato mo. In other words, paki- introduce mo siya sa BOD kasi marami sa atin ay hindi pa magkakakilala.

Send your nomination to me only, not to the BODs or the general membership (kasama yung bio-data) in confidence. And when voting time comes (August 14 to August 21), remember to send your vote to me only as well (youngfreds@hotmail.com) para manatiling confidential. I will, however, forward the bio-data and any other info you provide about the candidates or nominees to the BODs before voting time siyempre para makilala siya.

Dear Beloveds,

By an affirmative majority vote of your Board of Directors, a resolution at the instance of Comelec Chair Brod Dr. Fred Young has been approved to extend this year's UP Beta Sigma International (UPBSI) election timelines.

Allow us to quote Brod Fred on this resolution:

" In view of the rather slow response to our election call up to now, perhaps owing to the pandemic and many other distractions associated with the pandemic or not that we all have to contend with, it seems prudent to extend the time we have for nominating brods for the 22 BOD posts up for grabs. A one-month extension will give us more time to collect membership fees, consult, or otherwise encourage brods to participate and run for a BOD post.

Election Rules will remain the same. We are asking to change only the timelines. The revised schedule shall look like this:

July 26, Sunday Nominations for the 22 BOD posts ends
July 27, Monday BOD candidates announced and voting begins
August 4, Tuesday Voting ends
August 5, Wednesday Winning candidates announced
August 6, Thursday Nominations for UPBSI President from among the BODs begin
August 13, Monday Nominations end
August 14, Tuesday Voting for the new UPBSI President begins
August 21, Tuesday Voting ends
August 22, Wednesday New UPBSI President proclaimed and announced "

Dear Fellow Members of the UP Beta Sigma-International

Today marks the one-month nomination period for the positions for the UPBSI Board of Directors as published by COMELEC CHAIR Brod Fred Young. Please refer to his recent message showing the available positions per area.

Allow me to emphasize a few points mentioned in the Chairman's guidelines:

1. Before a Brod is nominated to the BOD, please make sure that the nominee is qualified to run, meaning, he has paid at least two years membership dues for the duration of his possible service in the Board starting in mid-year 2020.

2. Moreover, the Brod being nominated to the Board should agree to serve in the BOD. Chairman Fred Young also suggested that the nominee first read the UPBSI Constitution and ByLaws. This point is very important so that the new Board of Directors will start and proceed on the same page.

2. For the Philippines. Dear Brothers in the UPBSI,

It is time to elect 22 members of the UPBSI Board of Directors for 2020-21. I have attached the timelines and the rules governing this year's elections. Both the schedule and the rules have been duly approved by the current BOD and will be strictly adhered to. I do want to stress a few more points.

o Nominations for the 2020-21 BOD positions begin May 26 Tuesday and ends June 26 Friday. That is exactly one month. Brods are encouraged to check with those they nominate to ensure that they are willing to run for a BOD post to avoid the "I decline" responses we experienced in previous elections.

o Brods nominated for the BOD posts are asked to pay their membership dues for 2020 and 2021 (US$15/year or Pesos 500/year). If they have not done so yet, please contact our Treasurers on how to pay (roy_antonio_bs77@yahoo.com) or dennisbelmonte@yahoo.com). As well, these brods are encouraged to read the UPBSI Constitution and By-laws found in the UPBSI website (www.upbsi.org).

o All member brods of the UPBSI are eligible to vote. That's right, all. Payment of membership fees for 2020 and 2021 are encouraged and will be much appreciated, but not required to exercise a brod's right to vote.

Dear Beloveds,

By an overwhelming majority vote by your Board Of Directors, the following have been passed and approved concerning this year's UPBSI BOD elections:

1. Re-appointment of Brod Fred Young, PhD, as COMELEC Chair. Brod Fred UPD batch '66, shall set the timeline and rules that shall govern this
year's elections;

2. Consider all UPBSI (not the old UPBSI) members as eligible voters in the 2020 elections. We are waiving the requirement of payment of dues at
least in 2019 as a qualification for voting. Brod Roy Antonio, UPBSI Treasurer, shall release to the body the complete list of UPBSI members;

3. The number of BOD positions per area shall remain the same. This will be an interim arrangement for the 2020 Election only;

4. To qualify as a candidate, one has to pay membership dues for at least two years commencing in 2020 (or $30) for two years. The reason for
this is for the candidate to show genuine interest to serve the UPBSI for the whole period of his term; and

5. In the event that one is not listed as a member in the list that Treasurer Roy Antonio will release, he can still qualify to be a voter as well as a bonafide
candidate as a Board Of Director provided he pays two years' membership commencing 2020.
