Subject: ELECTION CALL TO CHOOSE THE 2018-2020 BSI BOARD OF DIRECTORS
From: Fred Young <youngfreds@hotmail.com>

Dear Brods,
General elections to choose the members of Board of the Directors are held every
two years. The last one should have been held in May 2018.
The entire process takes about two months to complete, from making the initial
call to nominating the candidates, the actual voting itself and counting of
votes, determining and proclaiming the winners and choosing the President from
among, and by, the winning candidates. That is a long time that we currently do
not have.
Timelines for the upcoming elections will be compressed and it begins today,
August 13, 2018 with this elections call and it will follow the following
schedule and observe the rules enunciated below:
ELECTIONS SCHEDULE
o TUESDAY AUGUST 14 - START OF NOMINATIONS FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
(BOD) PER GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OR REGION
o TUESDAY AUGUST 28 - NOMINATIONS FOR THE BOD ENDS
o WEDNESDAY AUGUST 29 - FINAL, OFFICIAL LIST OF CANDIDATES FOR THE BOD
PER REGION ANNOUNCED
o FRIDAY AUGUST 31 - VOTING BEGINS
o MONDAY SEPTEMBER 3 - VOTING ENDS
o TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 4 - BOD WINNERS ANNOUNCED
o WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 5 - NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT BEGINS
o SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 9 - NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT ENDS
o MONDAY SEPTEMBER 10-12 - ELECTION OF PRESIDENT
o THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 13- NEW PRESIDENT DECLARED AND ANNOUNCED
NOMINATION PROCESS
Nominations for the BOD should be sent by email to the BSI Google Group
(up-beta-sigma-international@googlegroups.com) and to me
(youngfreds@hotmail.com) specifically before the deadline of Wednesday August
29, 2018.
There is no limit to the number of nominees for each geographical area or region
(please see the attached allocation of BOD positions). A day-to-day update which
will include a running tally of nominees per geographical area or region will be
made and presented to all through the BSI Google Group.
Nominees/Candidates may withdraw if so desired by emailing the BSI Google Group
and me stating the intent to withdraw before the nomination deadline.
WHO CAN VOTE AND WHO CAN BE NOMINATED FOR THE
BOD
All the brods listed as members of the BSI as at 2016 are eligible to vote and
if eligible to vote also qualified to be a BOD (except those who have passed of
course. Please see attached excel spreadsheet for the list of brods).
Brods who are not in this list but desire to be listed as members are very much
welcome. They may, by all means, become BSI members and, thus, be eligible to
vote and also qualify to be a BOD by communicating their intent through email to
me (youngfreds@hotmail.com) and/or to the designated BSI treasurers Raffy
Hidalgo (raffyhidalgo@gmail.com) and Roy Antonio (roy_antonio_bs77@yahoo.com)
and the incumbent President (nolinolasco@gmail.com).
BSI is not dispensing of the membership dues as funds are needed for the various
projects of the fraternity. But collecting these dues will take time that we do
not have and if we were to make it a requirement now, we will not have an
election. Perhaps we will be looking at 2019, if at all. Brods currently in the
list are enjoined to update their membership dues. As well, designated
treasurers should constantly endeavor to collect the dues.
I have not contacted nor consulted any of the COMELEC Team members regarding
this election owing to lack of time. No disrespect meant.
HOW TO VOTE
Voting will be at large, meaning, brods may vote for one, some or all of the
nominated candidates, irrespective of the geographical area or region they
belong to. Voting shall be by secret balloting. Send your votes in confidence to
me only please (youngfreds@hotmail.com).
Cheers,
Fred Young
