Subject: {UPBSF International} Acceptance Message

Dear Brods,

I am humbled by the trust and confidence given me as President of our U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity International (UPBSFI). As I begin this task, I wish to give recognition to our past president, Brod Brandy Ancheta, who has given so much of himself in putting up with the challenges that comes along with the position. And not to forget, Comelec Chairman Brod Fred Aquino and his members for ensuring the integrity and success of the recent election for the Board of Directors (BOD).

We continue to keep the UPBSFI alive because we know and realize that there is something invaluable and common that remains within us - the legendary "Betan Spirit." For the next two years, we shall be governed by the following:

1. Guidance for our Actions

We shall be guided by our Credo, Constitution and By-Laws (CBL), and by our Mission and Vision. Our CBL and our Mission, Vision and Manifesto are stated in the UPBSFI website.

2. Transparency

Our Secretary will regularly publish all BOD decisions.

Our Treasurer will publish Financial Statements every six months.

We will continue to post regular updates of Membership Dues payments at the UPBSFI website.

3. Empowerment

Representative Governance. All U.P. brods are members, but those in good standing have special privileges such as the right to vote. All brods, whether in good standing or not, can express their suggestions through the BOD in their respective geographical locations.

Membership information and education. Through the Membership Committee, all members will be regularly informed about activities and programs that concern our Mission, Vision and Manifesto. In addition, a progress report shall be submitted every six months.

Issues and proposals will be referred to the BOD. Especially for major issues, adequate time will be given for discussion, unless an early unanimous vote of "yes" or "no" is reached. So we can move at a fast pace, each member of the BOD is expected to respond within two days to any issue or proposal at hand in form of comments, recommendations, or a simple "yes," "no" or "abstain" vote. In emergency situations where an action has to be made within 24 hours, the Executive Committee as provided for in the CBL will be the deciding body subject to BOD review afterwards.

4. Financials

On collections, each member of the BOD will be the major back-up support of the Treasurer in collecting Membership Dues in their respective geographical locations.

Each member of the BOD will also perform a major role in expanding our membership base, backed up by frequent information from the UPBSFI website, Secretary, and Membership Committee.

Accountability and financial controls shall be enhanced. The BOD Ninongs of the campuses shall be guardians of funds spent for resident projects and that such funds are properly used for their intended purposes.

5. Partnership with Central and All Beta Sigmans

We are partners of the Central U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity in pursuing our two-fold vision.

We are also partners with any group aligned with our vision, as in the case of the Big Brothers Bounty (BBB) and Operation Big Brother Foundation (OBBF).

Likewise, we welcome partnerships with all other Beta Sigma Chapters and/or individuals as they relate to the pursuit of our vision. For instance, we very much appreciate the support of non-U.P. Beta Sigma doctors and dentists during medical missions held in our U.P. campuses. Any form of assistance in the conduct of projects meant to promote our image as the "Fraternity of Choice" is always welcome.

In accordance with our CBL, we have to submit a Work Program for the next two years. To the new members of the BOD, I will need your inputs here, but let us focus on programs and projects that will promote our Mission, Vision and Manifesto, increase our membership, and constantly improve our image as a noble movement.

It is comforting to know that I belong to the "Fraternity of Choice" that has a multitude of gifted leaders and supporters. The composition of our BOD spans five generations, and we have a good mix of old and new faces. While the finish line is never really crossed, I think we are well on our way to realizing the intent and purpose of our Mission, Vision and Manifesto.

In line with our transparency program, I am requesting the UPBSFI Secretary to publish the newly approved Set of Officers, appointed BOD Representatives, Council of Advisors, and Committee Chairs. The Treasurer will likewise publish our Financial Statements as soon as the details are completed.
