UP SoCal celebrates Christmas’07, elects new GP
LA brods and families bid goodbye to ’07 by celebrating at their traditional Christmas party on Dec. 15 and welcomed ’08 by electing Dr. Frank Mamaril, UPLB’56, to lead the chapter for the coming two years. The site of the party: at Frank and Rory’s beautiful house by the lake in the Orange County enclave of Yorba Linda, of course.
The yuletide gathering was also a joyful recognition of outgoing GP Sonny Pagador’s varied projects: the Willy Nepo Show, the Officers’ Induction Ball, the Rockways, the Tito de Santos Medical Mission, the Flor Pagador Memorial Bowling for Charity and reviving the chapter’s incorporation. The outgoing 2006-2008 officers deservedly shared the gratitude of the members.
On the flip and incoming side is Brod Frank, who is also the current president of the UP Alumni Association of Greater Los Angeles (UPAAGLA). Frank completed his BSST at UP Los Banos, MS and PhD at Kansas State University. He is enjoying his “semi-retired” consultancy practice and travels with wife Rory, also a UP alumna from the College of Nursing Frank immediately appointed Edsel Arceo, UPD’73, a career accountant and finance whiz with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, to be his right-hand man. Great first decision by the new GP was the overwhelming consensus of the brods.
Singing Christmas carols, feasting on the sumptuous dinner, toasting the wine glass and beer bottles the UP Betan brods, wives and kids thanked the Lord for another year of brotherhood and friendship. Bring in the New Year!
