5^th Annual Flor Pagador Memorial Bowling For Charity

 The 5^th Annual Flor Pagador Memorial Bowling for Charity sponsored by the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association of Southern California was held on January 31, 2009 at the Jewel City Bowl in Glendale, California.  The purpose of this annual activity is to raise funds for scholarships given to needy and deserving students of the University of the Philippines since 1986, and for annual medical missions sent to the Philippines since 2005.

 Thirty seven (37) bowlers participated this year compared to twenty six (26) bowlers last year.  First place winners were Victor Hilvano for Men’s with a total score of 726 and Emma Soliman for Women’s with a total score of 619, for 3 games, respectively.  Second place winners were Lito Eusebio for Men’s with a total score of 713 and Vicky Velasco for Women’s with a total score of 490,  for 3 games, respectively.  A trophy and $50 each were awarded to the first place winners and $25 each were awarded to the second place winners.

There was a 50-50 raffle and the winners of $30 each were Jun Yamzon and Jun Castro.  Nine bottles of wine were also given away as prizes.  In addition, free printed t-shirts for the tournament were given to all bowlers donated by Brod Sonny Pagador.  Special thanks to the tournament coordinators, Brod Manny and Elma Gatmaitan, for a job well done.  Also, thanks to Brod Ago Romero for printing the tournament t-shirts.

A get-together was held after the event at Brod Ago and Eva Romero’s house.  Thank you Eva for the delicious home-cooked dinner you prepared.  We would also like to thank the UPBSFI brods – Tatang Vergara, Johnny Regadio, Fred Aquino, Manolo Banzon; and San Francisco Chapter brods – Felix Rodriguez and Max Lambojon for driving all the way from Sacramento/San Francisco to join us for the event.

 Our sincerest gratitude to the parents of our departed Brod Flor Pagador and to his sisters Lisa, Nida, Florence, and their families for attending this memorable event.  Lastly, thank you to all the UP SoCal brods and sis who solicited donations and helped in making this year’s bowling tournament a great success.  Cheers!!!

On our way home, Justice Fred Aquino (kasi UPBSFI COMELEC CHAIRMAN na siya ngayon) said, "This was a very fruitful trip."
 
The moment we arrived, Edsel treated us for lunch at MAX'S Glendale and Nonoy and Ivy joined us in a short while...
It was a good experience for our NorCal bowlers to witness how good the members of Manny Gat's bowling group are.
 
Eva and the SoCal ladies treated us to a sumptuous dinner.  Hermie San Luis offered his home to Tatang, Fred and JR; Manolo went home with Edsel.  The next morning, Hermie and Doris treated us to a nice dimsum, and we were later joined by Ed Cornelia, Boy and Mildred Wico.
