Lalas'69 tops Corona-Norco School Board, throws party
Let us congratulate our fraternity
brother, Jose Lalas, for being elected as a new member of board of
the unified school district of the cities of Corona and Norco in
Southern California.
As of 8:20 a.m. November 5, 2008
with 72% of votes counted, Jose Lalas has garnered the highest number
of votes. Joe won one of the three (3) vacant seats in the
Corona-Norco Unified School District Board of Education. He obtained 9%
more votes than second-placer and re-electionist Cathy Sciortino, who
has been a school board member since 1995. He received 34% more votes
compared to Michell Skipworth, a newcomer who won the third board seat.
Joe garnered 57% more votes than
the fourth placer Pat Scott, who could most likely lose this election
after serving the Corona-Norco Unified School District school board
during the last five years.

A Message of Appreciation and Beyond
Brothers,
This is from the heart! Thank you for all your support. Many
individual brothers have done an outstanding job of providing moral
encouragement and financial assistance to my campaign. I salute to these Brods. I also salute to the Fraternity and our membership as a whole for
creating and maintaining our strong culture of Brotherhood that allows
opportunities for Brothers to help one another.
There are many lessons learned from my campaign and my political
involvement that I would like to share with all of you sometime in the
future. I know that you will be very receptive to this because you are
all in many ways very active and playing leadership roles in your own
social clubs, religious gatherings, alumni groups, and professional
associations. Some of you might even be inspired to run for a public
office in your own respective communities. The truth is many of you, my
Brothers, have the time, resources, leadership, and talent to be leaders
in the cities where you live.
I would like to thank the Fraternity from the bottom of my heart! However,
I would like to thank the following Brothers for their very important
financial contributions: Bernie Bacosa, Norman Bituin, Ed Cornelia, Jummy
de Luna, Art Martin, Sonny Pagador, Ago Romero, Carling Taguinod, Winston
Acevedo, Fred Aquino, Ike Araneta, Cecilio Felix, Poga Gaspay, Babes
