6th Flor Pagador Bowling For Charity, January 30, 2010 by Edsel Arceo'73
With the declaration of 2010 as “The Year of the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity,” the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association of Southern California, Inc. spearheaded the 2010 activities with the 6th Flor Pagador Bowling for Charity held on January 30, 2010 at the Jewel City Bowl in Glendale, California. Proceeds from this fundraising event will be used for our 4th Tito De Santos Medical and Dental Mission to be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the University of the Philippines, Diliman Campus. For the past three years, our alumni association has provided free medical and dental assistance to our fellow Filipinos back home. And this year, we reaffirm that commitment once again.
There were 35 bowlers who participated. First place winners were Godfrey Galsim for Men’s with a total score of 793 and Rosie Schneider for Women’s with a total score of 557, for 3 games, respectively. In second place for Men’s was Froilan Soriano with a total score of 673 for 3 games. A perpetual trophy and Johnnie Walker Blue Label was awarded to the Men’s champion and a perpetual trophy and $50 was awarded to the Women’s champion. The Men’s second place winner was awarded $50.
The traditional 50/50 raffle was held and the winners of $40 each were Brod Norman Bituin and Jun Abcede. Eight bottles of wine were raffled as well. Also, free tournament t-shirts were given to all bowlers and attendees. A special thank you to Brod Manny and Elma Gatmaitan for once again coordinating this successful event.
Lastly, our sincerest gratitude to Cielly Pagador for her unwavering support, and to the parents of our dearly departed Brod Flor Pagador, his sisters Lisa, Nida, Florence, and their families for attending this memorable event. And as always, thank you to all U.P. SoCal brods and sis who solicited donations. With our combined efforts, we will realize our commitment to our journey of making a difference and “helping others as they continue to meet each of their needs with dignity.”
