UP Beta Sigma Fraternity Celebrates Christmas Party At The UP Executive House by Elmer Reyes'05
The Diliman residents held a Christmas Party at the UP Executive House on December 18, 2009, which was also Lantern Parade in UP Diliman. The party was attended by more than 100 residents and alumni from UP Diliman, Baguio and Los Banos, as well as members and alumnae of the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity Ladies Corps.
Brod Raffy Hidalgo '86 likewise gave a message congratulating the residents for the successful recruitment, which is the end result of the OBBF's recruitment seminar to the residents. He also outlined plans of conducting an initiations seminar and a leadership seminar for the residents next year.
Resident GP Prince Elmer Reyes gave the opening remarks, saying that although it has not been a very good year for the Fraternity, with more than 20 brods passing away, there are still many things to thank for, such as the individual achievements of alumni and resident brods, the strengthened relationship between alumni and residents which benefits the residents in through scholarship and incentive programs, among others, and most importantly the fact that the 8 very young members were added to the Fraternity roster this year.
Meanwhile, Brod Rolly Reyes '66
also gave a message regarding the declaration of the Year 2010 as the Year
of the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity and called for solidarity among the
members of the Fraternity. Brod Ruben Pascual, President of the UP Beta
Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association Inc., GP Jec Cabuguason of UPLB, and
Brod Rico Arranz '46 likewise gave their messages.
Entertainment was provided by Dr. Charrisse Baldoria, who adroitly played the piano, and Ambassador Jimmy Yambao '63, who serenaded the brods with arias. Much thanks is accorded to Brod FG Pat Roman who graciously accommodated the brods at the Executive House, the official residence of the UP President.
