TWO NEW PHYSICIANS FROM THE U.P. BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY,

  MINDANAO CHAPTER

By Brod Christian Ma. C. Zerrudo, UP Mindanao, 2000B, Batch Shin Seiki

It is with great pride and honor to announce that two brods from our U.P. Mindanao Chapter, U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity have recently passed the Physician Licensure Examinations.

Both Brods Eshir and Khalil are BS Biology graduates and took their Medicine Proper at the Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF), which prides itself with an almost 80% passing rate in the latest Physicians Licensure Examination.

Having the highest Grade Point Average in the U.P. Mindanao entrance exams, the chapter founders of the Beta Sigma Fraternity U.P. Mindanao wasted no time recruiting Brod Eshir to be its first Charter Member among other potential prospects at that time. Brod Eshir waited for 2 long years to be initiated to the Fraternity since at least 5 neophytes were required by the founders before they could start the initiation process. The latter then decided to proceed to initiate the only one but qualified applicant into the fold in April 1999. As Brod Eshir showed his dedication and perseverance, the final rites were then held on 19 June 1999. The “seed” was sown for the UP Mindanao Chapter. Brod Eshir set the benchmark for the Brotherhood of Scholars in U.P. Mindanao and has been the standard ever since.

On the other hand, Brod Khalil was the first Grand Princep of the UPMin Chapter in 2000-2001 with 9 resident members. In partnership with brother-doctors from the DMSF Chapter, Brod Khalil led the organization of the first Beta Sigma Fraternity Medical and Dental Mission for the UPMin community in July 2000. He was also a former President of UKLAS, a socio-cultural organization in UPMin.  As a medical student, Brod Khalil was the president of DMSF Medicine Class of 2007 and the president of Davao Medical Center (DMC) post-graduate interns, year 2007-2008. He also organized a car show for the DMSF Founding Anniversary in 2006 and led outreach programs such as medical missions in the District of Toril, Davao City, and the Municipality of Datu Piang in Cotabato, Brods Eshir and Khalil’s hometown.

To our new Brother-Doctors, we are very proud of you!

Brod Dr. Eshir Ismael, Charter Member 1999
