UP Mindanao Beta Sigma Builds UP Infirmary

 U.P. MINDANAO – The UP Beta Sigma Fraternity signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the UP Mindanao administration on the construction of the UP Mindanao Infirmary on 25 November 2009.

The MOA was formalized by UP Mindanao Chancellor Gilda Rivero, Vice-Chancellor Miguel Soledad, and Betans Sonny Pagador (President of the Betan Spirit Foundation or BSF) and Sebastian “Anggie” Angliongto (UPBSF International Board of Director for Mindanao). The signing was witnessed by the members of UP Mindanao Executive Committee, the local government of Davao City, UPBSF Alumni and residents.

Everyone conveyed their gratefulness in this project for it will directly benefit the UPMin students and employees as well as the immediate community where the campus is located.

Kagawad Alfredo Logronio of Brgy. Bago Oshiro expressed his appreciation to UPMin and BSF and stressed that the local government is very much willing to extend assistance for the fruition of UP-initiated projects.

Chancellor Rivero emphasized that the Betan Spirit project is “suerte” to the UPMin campus for other projects and donations came in after the Infirmary’s soft launching on 20 October 2009. Another pipelined project includes the development of community roads which is initiated by local politicians.

Likewise, she conveyed that her administration is thankful to the Fraternity for choosing UP Mindanao as the first campus recipient of the projects under the Betan Spirit Foundation. She stated that her administration will fully support projects and activities initiated by the Fraternity.

The construction of the Infirmary starts in January 2010 and is expected to be completed before 21 February 2010 to coincide with the 14^th founding anniversary of UP Mindanao.

The UP Mindanao Infirmary is the first infrastructure project of the Betans Spirit Foundation and the first in the country.
