Dear Brod Vic,

We have received the sad news about the passing away of Brod Prospero Crescini, UPD'49, the author of "The Betan Credo".  On behalf of the Board of Directors, the officers and members of the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity International, please extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of Brod Pros Crescini.  If you can provide us a mailing address where we can send a card to the family, we appreciate that.

All Betans are indebted to this man for putting into words the guide and the ideology by which we conduct and measure ourselves.  It has been 40 years, as part of my initiation, that I had to memorize the Credo.  To this day, I can recite it verbatim still; but to act and live by the precepts and values of what is "good and noble in man" is both a challenge, to say the least, and an inspiration.

With permission from my batchmate, Tito Garcia, former PAL captain with Betan alias "Wing Commander Squadron 65", I would like to share with all the brods his eulogy (below) which will be read at the final rites for Brod Pros Crescini.

Fraternally,

Norman Bituin, UPD'65... "I am a Beta Sigman and I am proud of it"

My dear Brods,

I do not know Brod Pros Crescini personally.

I have seen him on TV a few times and would always proudly announce to my wife & children the commonality we shared, the same visions we saw, the same creed we strived to live by…a creed he so magnificently penned into words to become our guiding & unifying Credo.

I do not know Brod Pros Crescini personally – much as I do not personally know Dr. Jose Rizal, Gat. Andres Bonifacio, Gen. Emilio Jacinto, the brothers del Pilar, …men we have studied & admired as we learned of their sacrifices for our country & people.

I do know that these great men certainly “climbed the barriers of wealth, regions, creed & prejudice so that they may create a feeling of kinship predicated on sympathy, understanding, friendship & equality”.

I now know Brod Pros walks with these heroes.

It is truly comforting to know that when we too must “drop the working tools of life”, a great Betan shall welcome us and say: “Well done my Brod. You have righteously walked the gauntlet of life. Take off your blindfold for I shall guide you to Him”.

…then proudly I shall have said: “I know Brod Pros Crescini  personally”.
