IN MEMORIAM

Farewell... Brod Emilio Araneta, Jr., UPLB Batch '56

Dear Totong and Michelle,

In behalf of our UPLB Batch '56 Betan brods, I send this note of condolence to you and your whole family for our dear Brod Emil's passing. We will continue to pray for his soul and pray for continued strength within your family as you mourn Brod Emil's passing. Let us celebrate, however, and be thankful to Our Almighty God for sharing his life with us, and have faith in the assurance that Brod Emil is now at peace with our Maker.

Attached are some pictures that I have kept as a reminder of our fellowship these past 5 years. We are grateful for the opportunity to get together after so many years of not seeing each other. I felt very grateful for the chance to see Brod Emil again for the first time in 2004 when my wife and I visited Davao City (Anggie Angliongto as our host), after not seeing each other after completing our studies at UPLB in 1959.

With our prayers and love,

Frank Mamaril, UPLB Batch '56 "Cream of the Crop", 4-19-09

Dear Totong,

Your father will always be remembered by many Betan Brods who know him well. I do remember the many good deeds he had done. That is why I stood up voluntarily during that final Betan rite to say something what I know of him so our resident Brods would learn what a good Betan he was and how they should emulate his Betan Spirit as a dear Fraternity brother. I am sure your dear father is now at peace in the Heavenly Kingdom of the Almighty God knowing very well you will be the one to carry on the farm to its continuing success. I said this because your other family siblings will most likely stay in the foreign countries. I hope you and Michelle will continue to give some attention to your Mom because during the first year is quite difficult for her.  I wish you and Michelle all the best in life!

P.S.  The P5000 pesos I gave to your Mom came from Brod Frank Mamaril of Los Angeles. He called me up to advance it for him after his long distance call which Michelle responded.  Your Tito Frank  joined the Fraternity the same year with your Dad and were classmate like me. The other Betan batchmates '56 of your Dad mentioned in are Ed Quisumbing who is a cousin of your Mom, Honesto Gacusan and Walter Cruz!

Dear Beta Sigma,

I am speaking in my father's and in the remains behalf  I am Enrico Araneta and I am the second son of Emil (my wife Michelle).  I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

We appreciate your deepest sympathy as you conducted your ceremonial rites last April 17, Friday, at around 8:30pm.

I have been with my father for quite some time and he has taught us remarkable and unforgetable walks of life.

I would like to emphasize that my father and I have a unique experience from my other brothers and sisters.

He has taught me to face life in different ways, even at its cloudy moments.

In the banana industries he let me experience the basic fruit care like line weeding, sigatuka spray, deflowering, etc..... When we were in Manila he taught me to sell baby corn in the restaurants, and sell (wholesale) string beans in the market. And when we had our small-time bakery in Cagayan de Oro City we went together to expand our sales in the remote areas.

My father has been a part of us all, help others in many other ways, and I believed his knowledge and unique personality has contributed in the economy of our country.

I should say AGRICULTURE is a big business and can help other firms to join and make some transactions.

Its always like this...... That when someone's gone, doon lang natin makikita kung sino siya sa atin.

My father has been very loyal to Beta Sigma.

He gave his life and career to his family but he never set aside Beta Sigma.

Beta Sigma is always with him where ever he is...

If he were to describe his dedication to Beta Sigma,....

It would best be described like this.....

"LOVE IS GIVING SOMEONE THE ABILITY TO DESTROY YOU...

BUT TRUSTING THEM NO TO........"

He TRUSTED his brothers and sisters in the Beta Sigma so much and he enjoyed your company...

Dear Michelle,

I miss your dad deeply.  We have been together from college to PPC at Del Monte.  We kept in touch during most of our professional careers.  He was a terror to the young damsels in the PPC plantation that made me and brother Vic Castro envious.  He had this magnetic personality with the girls that we could not fathom.  Maybe it was his enigmatic smile and gentlemanly behavior towards them.  It took a young lady from Cagayan de Oro, which happens to be my hometown, to subdue and tame this wild spirit.  Your mom completely showed him the way to being a loving and devoted husband.  He has been a faithful husband and father ever since.

I know you will miss him as we all do.  Please accept our deepest condolences.

Dear Uncle Ed,

We cannot describe how we felt to face papa at the memorial this afternoon but rest assured he is at peace with the maker right now. Hope we could see each other soon and share more experiences and stories with him in the past. God bless...
