UPDATES / US BETAN MEMORIAL FOR BROD TITO'63

Dear Brods,

 

As you may know, Brod Tito has been laid to rest.  The Betan final rites was held on July 29 at Christ the King Church in Green Meadows, Quezon City.  The eulogy, a collection of messages from brods all over the world, was delivered by UPBSFAAI Pres. Vic Ramos.  Brod Tito’s wife Viching and son Noel (who was taking the law bar exams) flew in from the US, while daughter Tanya came from her domicile in Europe.  Cremation followed the day after.  According to Pres. Vic and other alumni who witnessed the final rites, this largest turnout by far simply shows the high esteem and regard the Betans have for Brod Tito and for what he had accomplished in his short life.  

 

All these latest events, including the eulogy, the brods’ messages and pictures from the ceremonies have now been posted and/or will soon be added to the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity International website (click here: http://upbetasigma-international.org).  Many pictures showing Tito participating at our 60th Jubilee gatherings - the Balikbetan Fiesta, the On-the-Spot Painting, the Folkways and the Grand Ball – are now in our web.  I have also contributed my personal recollections and, from my album, recent pictures of Tito in Southern California ( see “Photo Remembrances of Tito, UPD’63”) with a few sample pictures below.  Keep checking and using our website as we develop and push out more articles and pictures of interest to you.  You may send and contribute as well by emailing them to our web administrator, Brod Ollie Jumao-as, at ‘ollie@mansys.ph’.

 

We have learned that Viching de Santos will be coming back to Los Angeles on August 15.  She has scheduled a family memorial, “Celebrate the Life of Tito de Santos”, on August 26, Saturday, at Marina del Rey Marriott.  Details of the celebration (in red) from a family friend, Cookie Wells, are appended at the bottom.

 

For those who will be attending the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity, Southern California Chapter Induction of Officers and Dinner-Dance on September 2-4 in LA, there will also be a second Betan memorial mass on September 2, Saturday at 5 pm preceding the Hospitality Night at GP Sonny Pagador’s residence at 25062 Hollyhock Court, Newhall, CA 91381.  Incidentally, UPBS SoCal is jump-starting the long Labor Day weekend with the Willie Nepo "All Of Me" Show on September 1, Friday, 7:30 pm at the Celebrity Centre in Hollywood.  The golf tournament at Knollwood Country Club and the Grand Fraternity Ball at Hyatt Valencia Hotel are set for September 3, Sunday at 10 am and 7 pm respectively.  The sendoff picnic will conclude the busy Betan 3-day affair on September 4, Monday.  For more info: call Sonny Pagador 818-364-9349, Ago Romero 714-522-5154, Aman Carolino 818-919-4492, Edsel Arceo 818-632-2183.
