PISMO 2006 - UPBSFI Board of Directors Get-Together

Hello All,

Thanks to you UPBSFI Directors, brods and guests for coming to the board meeting and get-together in Pismo last weekend.

First, I apologize for the cut-down time at the dining room for our meeting.  When I made the arrangement with the Spyglass Inn
banquet manager, she said we could use the room after dinner.  It turned out that the on-duty restaurant manager had to close
shop by 10p.

To recap our brief meeting:
  1. Our ending balance as of Nov, 11, 2006 is $1734, thanks in big part to the $900 donation of Ike Araneta.
      (See attached spreadsheet: UPBSFI Stmt 11-06, Statements).
  2. Our collected membership dues for 2006 is $600.  (See attached spreadsheet: UPBSFI Stmt 11-06, Dues).
  3. Our latest roster count as of today is 136.  (See attached spreadsheet: UPBSFI Directory).
      *Note: A hardcopy of these 2 documents were distributed at the meeting.  The UPBSFI Directory is also

       available online at our website: www.upbetasigma-international.org.
  4. As per our 2005 BOD agreement, UP North and UP South will share the $800 2005 corporate tax which the

     UPBSFI already paid in July, i.e. $250 each from the 2 UP chapters and UPBSFI $300.  The International,

     being a legal entity, may be used by the UP chapters providing them possible lawsuit protection.  The

     chapters will remit the amount to the UPBSFI Treasurer, Edsel Arceo.
  5. Sonny Pagador, the GP of UPBS SoCal, was elected to the BOD replacing Tito de Santos.
  6. We will work to organize an Alaska Cruise next year for interested members, similar to what the UPLB

      Betans had done. Lita Punzalan has volunteered to help in this study.
  7. Willie Vergara and Johnny Regadio will collaborate to post the article and pictures on the web of our Pismo

      get-together. However I did take a few pictures on the 2nd day, Sunday, see below.

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday,

Norman

Hi Board,

(A) Directors Attendance
As of today, all California-based directors (except for CarlingT who has a family engagement and TingV who has not replied yet), have confirmed to attend.
  -- UP North (11):  WinstonA, FredA, IkeA, ManoloB, PogsG, GabbyM, EricP, BoyR, JohnnyR, DaveV and

     WillieV.
  -- UP South ( 5):  NormanB, EdCornelia, DannyG, FrankM and BoiW.

Understandably, none of the outside California-based brods (6) can make it.  From WA, DonG and EdCuevas; CND, NoliN; HK, JopetL; and RP, OllieJ and RaffyH.   I heard there's quite a number of non-BOD brods who will join us, super!

(B) Golf Attendance
We have 4 reserved flights starting at 7:30a at Dairy Creek GC in SLO.  So far, I have only 7 confirmed:  EdCornelia, FrankM, Roy Antonio, BoiW, NormanB, IkeA and WinstonA.  We have "maybe's/titingnan ko" from EricP, ManoloB, Gilbert Basbas(?), George Abrina.  I will wait until tomorrow Friday noon, then I will cancel the other flights if not filled.

(C) Dinner Meeting
Our venue is at the Spyglass Inn in Pismo Beach.  Instead of the Banquet Room, our group has been moved to the Upper Level dining area, also with an ocean view.  Please plan to be there by 7p.  I understand some brods will be a little late, that's okay.  They can serve dinner until 9:30p.  There will be from 6-9 tables for about 40 people.  We can rearrange the tables later, said the Banquet Mgr., after dinner for our discussion.

(D) Agenda
The agenda is below in "Update 1" email, plus others we might think of.  I have one: an Alaska Cruise in 2007.  I'll bring some material and ideas/insight from the UPLB Betan alumni that had done and enjoyed it a couple of years ago.

I don't believe in long meetings, so we want to be done in an hour so we can spend more time in fellowship with each other and our families. Please pass this email to the other brods, if you could, GP Boy, GP Sonny, GP Ed Cuevas.

Thanks, drive carefully and see you Saturday in Pismo!

Update 1 - UPBSFI BOD & All Families Meeting/Get-together (and golf !!)

Hi Board,

Our board meeting with an open invitation to all the brods and their families is coming pretty close, about 4 weeks.  Again, it is on the long Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 11-12 Sa-Su, at Pismo Beach.  Either Friday or Monday will be a holiday for us.

A couple of good news:
 1)  There are no more available meeting rooms, but I was able to get the Banquet Room at the Spyglass Inn for

      Nov. 11, Saturday night from 6:30 up for our dinner and meeting.  The Banquet Mgr., Denise Roberts, said

      that it is now reserved for us (an earlier group has it till 5pm).  It has an ocean view and will accommodate

      about 70 people.  I had asked her to fax me the menu and she has.  There is a wide selection from prime

      rib to salmon, from barbecue buffet to seafood buffet.  A bit on the pricey side, but heck we only do it once

      a year at a seaside location!

 2)  We have 4 tee-times at Dairy Creek Golf Course at San Luis Obispo on Nov. 12, Sunday starting at

      7:30am.  The green fee with cart is $42, foursomes only. For those who didn't play there last year, Dairy

      Creek has a links-style design in the rolling coastal foothills with gullies and creeks.  It measures 6,548

      from the gold tee and has a 127/72 slope/rating (as if that concerns me...only that I don't hook my balls to

      the gullies).

Items on our agenda are:
  a. our financial and membership status;
  b. our corporate tax responsiblity and sharing;
  c. a new director in place of Brod Tito;
  d. Tetada Kalimasada intro/training with the planned trip of TK instructor Ollie Jumao-as, UPD'73, early next

      year;
  e. others.

Action items:
  1. I would like to ask GP Boy Ramos and GP Sonny Pagador to use their mailing lists to forward this update

      notice to their members.  (*Note: My home pc is hosed right now, so pls. use my work address,

      norman.bituin@sce.com, at this time).
  2. For all directors and brods, pls. confirm at the soonest time with Boy, Sonny or me if we will have the

      pleasure of your company in Pismo Beach... let's enjoy and do it!
  3. For the golfers, call or email me if you plan to play.  We have spots for 16 players.

Hope you're all well, mga utol.  Spread the news, keep me posted and I'll do the same.  See you November!

Thanks and best regards,
