Project Title:  MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN

Pursuant to our Work Program 2007-2009, we are formally launching our MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN. The main objective of this campaign is to give an opportunity for all Brods around the globe to participate in fraternity-strengthening programs in an orchestrated, cohesive manner with a minimal annual fee of only $25.00. Please refer to our website: http://www.upbetasigma-international.org/ and go to the “About Us” portion for our statements of vision, mission and manifesto. (For other portions of the website, updates are currently being done to show the latest events.)

There are two parts of this campaign, namely:

1. BOD-led Campaign, where each Director of the UPBSFI Board is encouraged (not required) to recruit at least one new member.

2. Membership Campaign Contest, where each current member of the UPBSFI may be eligible to participate, subject to Rule #1 below. Initially, a list of our current members is available at the Directory portion of http://www.upbetasigma-international.org/ To enter this protected site, please use ‘upbetan’ as password.

First Prize – one whole week in Cancun, Mexico, timeshare courtesy of Brod Ike Araneta (schedule set in 2008; exact date to be announced later)

Second Prize – one timeshare weekend at Lake Tahoe, courtesy of Brod Kiko Delmendo. (schedule set in Summer 2008; exact date to be announced later)

Note: (1) Food as well as transportation to and from these places will not be provided. (2) First Prize and Second Prize are transferable, to accommodate winners who may not be able to avail of such due to distance or any plausible reason. Else, they shall be subject to the ruling below -- “All other prizes”.

All other prizes – exemption from annual fee for one year fee for every three (3) new recruits e.g. a brod who is able to recruit nine (9) members may be exempted from paying annual fees for the next three (3) years beginning 2008. There could be many winners in this case.

RULES:

1. Any Brod who has paid his dues in Calendar Year 2007 and/or 2008 may participate in the contest, including old members who have not paid prior to Calendar Year 2007. This means that even a New Member is eligible to participate in the contest upon payment of his annual fee starting Calendar Year 2008.

2. In the case of a Board Director, the crediting of a new Member for purposes of the Contest shall start from his second recruit.

3. A Brod shall be considered a New Member if and when:

       a) He has paid his initial payment for CY 2008 fee; or

       b) A “sponsoring member” has paid the fee on his behalf.

4. Both the BOD-led campaign and the Membership Campaign contest shall end on November 30, 2007. At least monthly progress reports (even weekly if necessary) shall be published to the general membership via email and/or the website mentioning the names of the new members as well as the brods who are to be accordingly credited.

5. While “recruitment in teams” is encouraged, the team shall assign only one Brod who will be given credit for each new recruit.

6. For payment of fees by Brods residing in North America, Europe or Africa,  please write your check in favor of UPBSFI, Inc. and mail it to our Treasurer: Brod Edcel Arceo,  22374 Lavender Bell Lane, Woodland Hills, CA 91367.

OTHER INFORMATION:

1. Our target for this campaign: FIFTY (50) New Members. Already, we have seventeen (17) new ones added to the UPBSFI Directory list.

2. This campaign shall be administered by the UPBSFI President and Secretary, whose new recruits will not be credited under Part Two..

3. There will be a Part Three of this Membership Campaign – specifically on recognizing the donations of individual Brods to resident activities and programs geared towards our campus recruitment thrust. Your president is currently conducting a pilot program in the Philippines towards this end. A report on this will be submitted towards the end of 2008. This new scheme if approved by the BOD, will take effect in 2009.

4. An updated Directory of UP Beta Sigmans outside of the Philippines shall be published in print and in the internet by the end of January. This directory is expected to augment our campaign for additional members.

5. There had been comments about the need for a more intensified collection system to build up our financial base. This we will do, in tandem with campaign to increase membership. As mentioned, the objective of this campaign is not focused on financial targets  but more on unifying our efforts towards our two-fold vision and our professed mission “To restore, preserve, and continuously strengthen and improve the UP Beta Sigma identity, and uphold its traditions, symbols, legends and culture of excellence”
