RESOLUTION TO HELP ENSURE SUCCESS OF THE UPLB BETA SIGMA DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY

WHEREAS, the UPBSFI, Inc. has previously passed a resolution to support the 2010: The Year of the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity in January 2010 and such document was used by the 2010 Convenor Group before the UP Administration for the Fraternity to use facilities of the university campus and to conduct projects related to such declaration;

WHEREAS, Convenor Group Chair Brod Rolando Reyes (also a UPBSFI, Inc. Elder) has declared last February that the UPLB Beta Sigma Fraternity’s Diamond Year a.k.a. “10-10-10” shall be the highlight of 2010: The Year of the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity;

WHEREAS, for the celebrations to be successful, UPLB President Leo Balagot and Chair of the 10-10-10, has expressed the need for financial assistance in the amount of at least $4,500; a large portion of this amount ($2,000 plus) was initially raised by Philippine-based UPLB Brods augmented by their 10-10-10 Souvenir Program collections; President Balagot has likewise promised that details of all expenses shall be made available to donors;

WHEREAS, realizing the need for such assistance, many individual brods from Los Banos and Diliman, including those from our Mother Chapter and UP Beta Sigma entities such as the UP Southern California Chapter and the BBB (advanced money then replenished by a Diliman brother) have responded to this call for financial assistance;

WHEREAS, the UPBSFI, Inc. which is composed mostly of UP Beta Sigmans from Diliman and UPLB, has to this day not yet given out any amount to support to either the 10-10-10 celebrations nor the UPLB Beta Sigma resident body to carry out their 2010 activities;

WHEREAS, it is to the best interest of the whole UP Beta Sigma Fraternity to ensure that the 10-10-10 celebrations be as successful as possible;

WHEREAS, UPBSFI, Inc. has an excess amount of $1,716.58 from its 2009 Allocable Funds;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the UPBSFI, Inc. allocate an amount of no higher than FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00) from said Allocable Funds to the 10-10-10 event organizer (c/o President Balagot) to help ensure success of the Diamond Anniversary of UPLB Beta Sigma Fraternity.

Votes were generated through (a) electronic mail, (b) telephone calls made by the President of UPBSFI and UPLBAA and the proponents; or (c) during the meetings held separately in UP Northern California and Southern California.
