RESOLUTION EXTENDING ASSISTANCE TO THE BETAN CLINIC IN U.P. MINDANAO

WHEREAS, a Betan Clinic in UP Mindanao under the sponsorship of the Beta Sigma Fraternity of North America was established using an old, vacant and unused building owned by the University of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the setting up of such facility was made possible in large measure by donations of individual UP Brothers and/or their spouses, including some of our Board of Directors who donated to such project in the name of UPBSFI, Inc.;

WHEREAS, this facility that was inaugurated in February 26, 2010 in the presence of UP President Emerlinda Roman and Vice Chancellor Gilda Rivero is strategically located near the entrance into the UP Mindanao campus, thus serving as one of our means to pursue our common vision: For UP Beta Sigma to be the Fraternity of Choice in the University of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, this facility if fully operational will be able to respond to medical needs of at least 300 people in the immediate surroundings;

WHEREAS, this facility is grossly underutilized due to the absence of regular medical staff as well as gross lack of medicines that would serve the intended population;

WHEREAS, being one of the the sponsors of this resolution and as a gesture of good faith, BOD Gene Samson is pledging an amount of TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) out of his personal funds to augment the pledges of other individual donors;

BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity-International, Inc. (UPBSFI) allot the amount of no more than THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300.00) from its remaining 2009 Allocable/Excess Funds to augment the current efforts to finance this facility from different sources.
